Title: 1.32 for EU?
Post by: partach1 on July 23, 2009, 11:12:55 AM
It seems the final 1.32NA is getting somewhere in the stability department.
the 1.32b05 worked for 5 days straight before I upgraded to the final 1.32NA.
Probably to early to say but it is looking finally hopefull that it makes the router worth while.

Question that remains is, will there be a EU version coming?
Dunno if that would make much sense as the NA version is working for me but I guess the distinction is not made for nothing by Dlink?

I  think they abandoned the different release for EU.

There will be a 1.30EU version in a short time.
1.30ww version is already  on the russian  ftp server.

But both versions are based on the older firmwares and downgradable, you can't flash them if you use NA firmware 1.30 and above.

What is the point of releasing 1.30EU firmware (which is old and buggy) ? They should go straight to 1.32EU.

Why there is such a huge time gap between NA and EU firmware releases ?

Because they never release Beta's only final's and then several month's later.
What I heared from local D-link support is that the (Clever) UK FW programmer boys reworked the releases to make it suited for the EU countries??!

If I follow you correctly, this is therefore a very different release from 1.30 NA, and just shares the same "number"?

Yes, you are right. Seems there will be two different lines of new firmwares.

Can't tell more at the moment as I did not have the new EU version and can't test the 1.30ww - my DIR-655 does not accept it.
Hope we will see the EU version soon.

another thing that may go back into the EU firmware is the 3G wireless on the USB.

just because american ISPs did not want it they pulled it.  People use the feature in Canada but we are having it pulled since we are NA... I plan on moving to the EU firmware when it is final and has the 3G back.

I don't understand this policy. I have firmware 1.21EU installed now but this firmware breaks the UPNP features in the router, since I depend on this UPNP for several applications on my WHS + I depend on the shareport possibilities to share my homescanner between parents and the kids, I am blocked. Although European customers also pay for their Dlink equipment, they aren't threated the same way and that is a pitty.

I am really frustrated by this policy, if a new firmware breaks previous features in a router, I expect a solution in a reasonable timegap by Dlink. That would be customer care.

A part from the multi language support there is no difference between NA and EU version...Your English seems to be OK so what's the problem here?

(...) what's the problem here?

Installing NA firmware on european DIR-655 would probably void warranty.

That's what the eula states. But I don't think it does when it comes down to it.
Have you ever read the Windows EULA? Try it and be amazed...

its REALY bad that EU releases lag by nearly a year :(
many people just jumps ship and just use US firmware, we customers dont realy care that much, its a D-Link's problem

The reason EU-releases take so long though is generally because they care to release something that might actually work. The 1.32NA firmware is infamous for it's horrible.. Well, everything.. I haven't heard a whole lot of complaints on the 1.30EU firmware that made it to the public.

I can tell you one thing about EU releases.

1.21EU A4 is what i got.

Nothing works all the way up to 1.31EU on hardware A4 - Portforwarding, Virtual Server, DMZ.

Using www.portforward.com as reference and the PFtool provided.
FTP running from my NAS is not going to work on a DIR-655 from outside in.
After I returned the first DIR-655, the second had same revision and firmware and problems...

Next time, remember to buy anything else - it seems to work for most hardware vendors, exept D-link.

I'm shocked, angry and disappointed.

I will return this and again again until the store has no more left.

I use last beta 1.31 fw. Finally multicast works again! (IPTV from ISP T2 Slovenia). http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DIR-655/Firmware/beta/ (http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DIR-655/Firmware/beta/)

I think, it's known by everybody, but it seems to be that the fw 1.32 is available in EU:

on the german ftp:
ftp://ftp.dlink.de/dir/dir-655/driver_software/DIR-655_fw_reva_132EUb01_ALL_multi_20100210.zip

AND

on the french one:
ftp://ftp.dlink.fr/DIR/DIR-655/Firmware/DIR655A4_FW132EUB01.rar

It is always a kind of paperchase to find the latest firmware on the dlink servers....weird.

Is IPTV streaming working properly in 1.32EU? I find that every firmware since 1.11EU does not forward multicast streams from a certain address range 239.193.128.*.
