Camera goes down, needs factory reset
« on: December 13, 2015, 04:11:36 AM »

I have a 935L camera which I have been trying to use for months now. I have actually had two since I got one for my birthday and bought another one myself. My problem is the following: I install the camera with the Home app, and it works fine. I log on and it shows a picture - all good. After 5-10 minutes I try logging on again but the camera is down. I check it on the mycloud website - sure enough, there is that red X that shows the camera is not responding. It is now impossible to restart it and it needs a factory reset. I have done this with 2 different cameras, in different homes and with different routers etc, with the exact same result. I tried the few tricks Dlink told me to try, but to no avail. My question is: does anyone of you recognize this and how can I remedy the problem? I have spent a lot of money on this and I am unable to do the one think I wanted to do, which is to monitor my vacation home. Thanks.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DCS? Look at the sticker behind or under the camera.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DCSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?
I recommend setting a static IP address ON the cameras outside of the main host routers default DHCP IP address pool as a troubleshooting step: 192.168.#.93 or 35.  DHCP

Test cameras with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on ALL cameras: DCS Cloud (L) Series Camera Configuration and Mydlink.com

Thanks for replying.

I don't have the cam here at the moment, so I can't say what hw version. Not sure what that means either?

Firmware is the latest one there is. Updated the cam immediately upon install.

Nordic region

Router is Netgear and in the second home I tried it, it's whatever the isp sent out. Not sure actually. But two different routers and the same result anyway.

Not sure what wireless mode entails, are you referring to encryption type?

Distance between cam and router is about 12 feet (same room and no wall) in the first place and about 20-25 feet in the other location, with half a wall (no door) in the other (apartment).

Not sure what static ip means but I will look into it. There is only one cam in each place though.

Thanks!

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
