Title: DNS-323 two drives and Bittorrent
Post by: curt55 on March 06, 2010, 06:37:07 PM
I've been using the standard Bittorrent client on my DNS323 (1.06 since upgraded to 1.08) for several months now with no problems, the 320 Gig Seagate ST3320620AS HD was getting full so I bought a 500 Gig Western Digital WD5000AACS HD to add space. The installation seemed to go well, the drive was formatted and I could access the drive normally mounted as Volume 2. However, to my surprise, my Bittorrent would no longer work. I can browse to find the torrent I want, but then when I click the add button, nothing happens. When I go to settings, it claims to be downloading settings but just sits there. I tried upgrading to firmware 1.08 but nothing changed, I installed the new APKG Bittorrent, again, no improvement. I then removed the new drive, suddenly bittorrent now works!
So what , if anything can I do to make Bittorrent work when I have two drives installed?

Hi!
I've got more or less the same problem, but with a slightly different setup.
I've got 2 HDDs in RAID1 so I really would not want to remove any of them if it is not necessary and the bittorrent is acting exactly as You described.
Just as a remark: if I use IE8 browser, I receive even a cannot connect to server message; if I use Firefox3.6 then I can navigate, browse the torrent file, than "add" and than...nothing happens. By settings also the same: it writes that it downloads the settings...

Help would very welcome... Thanks in advance :-)

curt55 -> Try installing the drives in the reversed slots.

YIKES!  :o  You'll lose your RAID data that way!

Curt55 isn't running raid 1. It sounds like his original drive was in the secondary slot.

That's good I was thinking of another thread. :)

Hi!
Thanks for all the good ideas!
But do You have some idea for RAID1?
I'm just thinking about to forget this feature - as I looked around there is a lot of problem with it...and quite a load of them unsolved...
OK, it is not a big deal for me, but then I think it would be more fair if it was removed from the feature-list...
Thanks,
DT

I also am having this problem and bittorrent no longer works since installing a second drive.  I tried downgrading to version 1.06 but did not resolve the issue.

Any other suggestions?

Ouch! Am I to understand that currently there's no way to use the Bittorrent client with 2 drives in the DNS-323?? My existing 1GB drive is nearly full so I was about to add a drive to mine. The Bittorent function (primitive though it is) is one of my primay uses. If this is true I will have find a replacement for the DNS-323.

Has anyone found a solution to this?  I'm in the same situation since adding a new 1.5TB drive.  :(

Nevermind, switched the order of the drives and that fixed the issue for me.
