Using DNR 202L with Firefox
« on: August 04, 2019, 06:45:24 PM »

Is there anyway I can use DNR 202L with Firefox on windows 10? My DNR hardware version is A1. I tried it with the latest firmware and also all older firmware versions on d link site.  I am trying to connect VIA the web GUI using the IP address. I also tried using the my dlink site but does not work in any browser. (go figure) I  can connect with IE11, but after about an hour it logs itself out. I have to keep logging back in, and IE will eventually crash. I downloaded firefox version 50.0.1 32 bit. It ask me to install a plug in, but does not have any plug in to install. I installed Java, the latest version and older version. I turned of firewall. In order to get it to work in IE11 I had to change some security settings leaving it open to hackers. I used to have it work in FF on an XP machine. I am ready to dump this whole system and look for another CCTV need, but I already invested a couple hundred dollars into this and don't want to spend more.  You would think D-link can keep up with the newer web browsers and actually make software compatible with it. All I am trying to do is monitor my 4 cameras 24/7, should be a simple thing to do. Any help would be appreciated. Hopefully I  can figure it out so I don't have to scrap this system.
One more issue hopefully some one can help out with,.When It is working with IE11 The cameras constantly lose and regain connection on the GUI. The screen goes black and it says connecting for a few seconds and the video comes back. This happens every 10-30 seconds. If I check the recordings it does record all the video so it is not really disconnecting from the DNR, I am just losing the video.

I got it to work with firefox version 45 (only 23 versions old) and firmware version 2.04.03. I had to change the security settings in Java to get it to work. (No big deal it is only the security of my home network I am sure hackers wont get in) It still crashed in Firefox and logged itself out. I tried to update it to firmware 2.05.01 again, after doing so it does not work at all in FF 45, 52 or 68. Oh and now it is no longer on My dlink account. I went to dlink web site to download the DNR 202l wizard so I can add to back to mydlink account. Guess what no wizard for windows 10. Go figure. I can see why windows 10 was only released 5 years ago. I think it is time to dump Dlink, absolutely horrible system.

This device has been discontinued and will no longer be developed (only security fixes). Unfortunately it needs NPAPI support and Firefox no longer supports it. You will need to use a browser with NPAPI support (Firefox 52 ESR, IE 11, Safari 12 or older, etc).
