Title: Not able to get 300Mbps on DAP-1522 w/ DGL-4500
Post by: mashean on September 18, 2008, 12:51:28 PM
I can get up to 130Mbps and I followed the steps listed in support.

1) The 802.11 Mode is set to Mixed 802.11n and 802.11g
2) I am using encryption.  WPA mode is set to Auto (WPA or WPA2) and the Cipher type is AES
3) The channel width on the DGL-4500 is set to Auto 20/40 MHz.  If I try to force the DAP-1522 to 20/40MHz then I am not able to connect to my router (any ideas?).  It simply will not connect until I switch it back to 20MHz.

I'm currently running firmware 1.12 on the DGL-4500 and version 1.02 on the DAP-1522.  The DAP-1522 is set up as a bridge since I just want to connect my entertainment system (TV, PS3, etc...).

MAC Filtering is turned on (on the DGL-4500) and the DAP-1522's MAC is added.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong.  Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance.

***Update***

I talked to a tech support guy at Dlink and he indicated that it's not possible to get a 300 Mbps connection between the two... is that true?

The DGL-4500 current firmware is having a problem with strict good neighbor policies that keep the router from connecting at HT 40 mode, we are working to correct this.

If you have the DAP in in a bridge mode you're only supposed to get access thru the LAN ports of the DAP.

Where are you getting that speed reading from?, Also could you provide a little more information as far how your network is set up so we could better assist you.

I can get up to 216mbps @66-80% this through 2 rooms on 5Ghz. I did a lot of moving both the router and bridge. For a while all I could get was 108-162mbps, but a little moving here and there helps. Both are vertical and I have the antennas on the dgl all facing back behind the router. Both also in 20/40 Mhz.

I didn't know about the dgl-4500 not being able to work well with the dap-1522.

so anon you max out at 216?  That's kind of my same situation.  I usually sit at a constant 162/5 as well.   Maybe send me a pm?

Lycan, has this problem been resolved or will it be in a later firmware update?  Am I getting a normal wireless rate according to my signal strength?

I've attached a picture.      http://img3.imageshack.us/my.php?image=slow2.jpg

92% signal, but 81mbps is pretty sad.  I was getting 216  then 165  then 108.  It keeps dropping for some reason.

Thank you,

Fo

Something in the area is interfering with the two.

I don't know it's odd.  It seems to degrade over time.  Like it was rock solid for days.  Then gotten slower and slower.  I read a post on here saying to hard reset (unplug from power) the dap-1522 when changing settings or connection otherwise the connection will degrade.

hmmm
