Connection Randomly dropping
« on: February 09, 2011, 08:43:22 AM »

Hi,

I have DIR-615 installed on a PC using windows xp. I also have a wii connected by wireless and an alienware PC using Windows 7 connected by cable. There have been no problems or only few since I bought my DIR-615. However, recently, my connection keeps dropping. I checked on my modem and D-link if they detected all the connection, they did. I then run a dianostic on my alienware and it said my connection had no problem. However, I couldn't used the internet and it also said on my alienware that no connection was detected. Then, the connection comes back to normal after a day or so and it starts again to lose connection. I sometime lose connection for 2 min each 10 min!

An other thing I noticed recently, it may not be related, I couldn't join a server on the game black ops. However, I could create a game where my friends could join in from the internet.

Sorry for my English and if I'm missing the correct terms.

Can anyone help?

What hardware version is your router?
What current FW version is loaded?
What ISP service do you have? DSL or Cable?
Does the ISP modem have a built in router or is it a stand alone modem? Make and model of the modem?

Try setting up Static IP addresses on the router and set the devices for automatic networking?

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual found in Status/Device Info/WAN section.

Turn off any Advanced DNS Services. Enable DNS Relay if you see this option.
