I know that some devices mainly older ones had HOST NAME values. This was also user editable. I'm not sure if this was also tied to ARP return results or completely different. I noticed over the years that if I set a custom HOST NAME value on my devices, most routers would see this. I see that some newer devices like IoT and others HW may not have this value anymore or it's hidden and set by the Mfr. I notice with other router mfrs that they also see problems in device naming management and how they get displaying in the UI and managed. Yes, this issue has been on going since the 880L. Kind of hoped that D-Link had this nailed down.
