Are the devices your trying to edit Dynamic, Static or Reserved?

I presume you are getting up to 24 reserved devices then after that I believe setting newer reservations wont work.
Just wondering if adding new Dynamic or Static device are not able to be edited...

The devices are Dynamic and Static.  Any new "Dynamic" or "Static" devices cannot be edited / renamed.  I don't believe I have reached the '24 Reserved Devices' as of yet.  However, I've tried to set an IP Reservation for one of the devices and it won't allow it to be reserved / renamed / edited.  I think the '24 Reserved Devices' rule might included devices being renamed / edited as well, even though the device DOESN'T have a reserved IP address.  So, if someone has 19 "reserved devices" and five devices they've edited / renamed BUT haven't reserved an IP address (for the five devices), it "triggers" the 24 maximum.

Hopefully D'Link can get this figured out.  Any / all devices should be able to be edited / renamed without restrictions, and not be part of the '24 IP Reservation' restriction.

Thanks for the additional info. It's been forwarded on to D-Link.  ;)

BUGS: v1.09 B14

2. Firewall rules disappear after saving configuration: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=63841.msg262111#msg262111 and
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=65088.0

3. Adding or configuring client devices under Clients seems to stop working and the UI not longer allows any more changes after a period of time has passed.

New Features in v1.09 B14:
1. Adding WPS enable/disable button on management UI.
2. Extends the number of rules from 15 to 24. (Static Route IPv4 and v6, Port Forwarding, Firewall IPv4 and v6,Virtual Server, Website Filter)
3. Add Schedule Reboot.

I've just purchased and set-up DIR-890l. It was easy enough to get it going but I'm surprised that there isn't a MAC whitelist option.

Are there any plans to add this feature?

MAC filtering wasn't supported on these newer generation router. Not sure if it will be included. MAC filtering could be circumvented on older routers.

Interesting! I've been using this feature for so long that I hadn't realised that nowadays tools are available to circumvent this security measure easily without being a wifi guru. I just googled it... thanks for pointing this out.

How about an option to only allow admin access to the router from a wired port?

And, "hide SSID" option when smart connect is enabled?

Ya Mac Filter is nice in theory however people can modify MAC addresses if they really want to.  ::)

Access to the UI is needed for both wired and wireless connections as I believe D-Link wants users to be able to set up the router using either connection method, even for initial set up. Also long and the owner of the router doesn't give out the admin PW, and use a good PW, routers are safe.

Not sure if this is something that is compatible with SC and wireless performances. Also hiding SSID names is also good in theory however can also be found as well with scanners.  :-\

Thanks Furry!

I've been agonising about these issues since I got the router, but I feel a little better now.

Understand. Users of older D-Link routers are used to that UI and the features they had. Newer generation routers are a bit more simplified and I presume D-Link did some research and also following with WiFi standard changes that didn't require some features to be used anymore or features of old are no longer compliant thus some reasons why they may not be seen in newer generation routers.

Enjoy the router for what it does. It's pretty solid.  ;)

UI bug in 1.09 - navigation headers disappear when you navigate deeper into certain areas, and you have to use the "back" option to get to where you started since the header is missing.

The lack of exFAT support is surprising - and disappointing - an excellent cross-OS format.  D-Link should prioritize this - would make life a lot easier for those with both OS X and Windows computers.

What browser are you using when you see this happening?
What menus are you seeing this on?
Try Opera or FF/
D-Link is aware of some UI issues. I have noticed that there is some UI display issues when first logging into the web page using IE11. However I have been able to navigate the menus to there places to get into deeper features and navigate out to higher levels...

NTFS works for me on my OSX devices. Has for years.

D-Link reserved exFat for there NAS storage systems. Not much call for that level of feature for home class routers where NTFS works for general use. Even though routers can handle some storage solutions, it's not meant to compete with NAS solutions so you wont get same performances as NAS. Especially with USB being a bottle neck and the many kinds of USB drives and drives that are inside them.

I recommend if you wanting exFat solutions and good storage performances, NAS should be on your list of items to review and consider. I enjoy my DNS-345 greatly.

Just some info:
I just upgraded to 1.0b14 EU, and Chrome can not display all info and settings.... as soon as I use MS Edge, everything is OK. I had to install 2 times, as the router would not restart after downloading directly from the GUI. Downloaded again to a local machine, and updated through cable connection. Restored my settings, and booted.  Still, the router did have blank password, not the one restored... In Admin settings, there was not any option to set a new, Internet connection was missing etc. Still all my computers and cams were online.
So, I tried Edge, and all settings was OK......
Peculiar? I also upgraded a year ago, but had to reload the old firmware, as nothing worked...
Dlink, you have a job to do! My Netgear router downloaded , installed new FW, and worked as before after 5 minutes---- And, I have been working with DLink products since  the late 1980's.....was a friend of the first distributor in my country.. :-)

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
  Link> >FW Update Process

What is the version of Chrome your using? Does FF exhibit the same issue?
Did you clear Chromes browser cache before and after doing the FW update?
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection

Please follow the FW update process fully to ensure FW update is installed correctly including doing a factory reset before and after loading the FW file.
Also be sure to clear any browser caches before and after loading the Fw file.
