Title: 2.4gz WIFI
Post by: apb0703 on February 27, 2015, 06:01:25 PM
Another issue I have came across.

I noticed two of my Wi-Fi devices weren't connected to the wireless network. A Nest Thermostat and a Belkin WeMo switch. Both of these devices can only use the 2.4gz Wi-Fi.

They were not seeing the SSID when smart connect was on, but all my other devices could. I turned off the Smart Connect and named the 2.4gz channel different from the 5gz channel. I turned the 3rd 5gz off.

Even after that, not only could Nest and the WeMo not see my Wi-Fi either could my iphone. It was like the 2.4gz channel did not exist even though it was enabled. I even tried turning off all the 5Gz channels and that still did not work.

Anyone else have this issue?

My two NEST devices are connected fine with SC enabled. Using v1.03 FW.

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.
