ipv6 problems
« on: February 25, 2012, 02:11:51 PM »

Hello everyone..........its my first post here.
I have problems with ipv6 with different versions of firmwares.
Last firmware that i try is 2.06 yesterday. This vers. broke my ipv6 connection. On the connection page in the router on ipv6 he show me that connection is good. I see there allocated ip's ( WAN IPv6, LAN IPv6, Gateway etc ) but on the LAN IPv6 COMPUTERS there is no computer (my PC) with a ipv6 ip allocated and ipv6 dint work. On the PC - LAN CONNECTION i have ipv6 Connectivity-no internet access. He broke even my ipv4 connection all the time (ipv4 Connectivity-internet access but doesn't work). I try everything: disable firewall, antivirus, check and unchecked different options in the router......

Same problems appear with versions: 2.02B08, 2.02B09,2.01B06 and another problems is the speed on ipv4 that seems to degrade itself from version to version (2.00.........2.06)

Now i return to 2.01B05 and everything is OK with the connections.

Thank you

I tested today again with both version 2.01b05 and with 2.06. Same problem with ipv6! And now the problem with my speed traffic. I am on wired connection i dont speak here about wireless. ONLY WIRED CONNECTION.
Test speed with 2.01.b05......Download ~100mbps and upload ~80mbps
Test spedd with 2.06b 02......Download ~90mbps  and upload ~10mbps
The test were made 3 time each....with the same tool (site)

Same settings on the router in rest and QOS disabled.

I wrote about that with hope that guys from D-link read my post......
I like my Router alot......and i see improvements in firmware version 2,06 with interface and a few options more from 2.01....but the ipv6 suport is not good at all....and the speed of my connection is worse than ever in v2.06.

What region are you located?
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged.

Some things to try:
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.

Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Cat6 is recommended.

Thank you for your answer.

I live in Romania, I am on wired connection, cable broadband (PPPOE) dont have modem, my WAN Ip is not with 192.168.0.#
DNS Relay is checked
DHCP is ON
uPNP is enable
The options that i didn't try is: the firewall ENDPOINT INDEPENDENT on both TCP and UDP.
In rest i disable everything: firewall, antivirus and is the only PC connected on the router when i test IPV6.
Cable From PC to router is CAT6 and on the WAN side is CAT5e.

But the same settings i have with vers 2.01b5 and all is OK: IPV6 connection and the speed that in the vers 2.06 is much lower especially the upload.
Test speed with 2.01.b05......Download ~100mbps and upload ~80mbps and is the same (with a little tolerance) every time i tested
Test speed with 2.06b 02......Download ~90mbps  and upload ~10mbps and is the same every time i tested

I would contact your local DLink support office and let them know about this. Seems like your seeing a deviation in speed between these 2 versions on the same router using same HW.

Nothing new from D-link......

In the meantime i found another guy on Dlink forum in Romania. He made update to 2.06 and has the same problem with upload rate. The 2.06 version crippled his upload rate.

I tried but the problem remain. After update, it works ok for e few minutes (ipv4 + ipv6) and on the status page is show nothing alocate to ipv6, but it works.
A few minutes later ipv4 is down, only ipv6 connected and my internet is down. After I restart the router it works again for a few minutes and down again......
I will try these days with the fw 2.09b13 to see if this is ok.
