I have been using the Trend NEt Gaming adapter TEW-647GA (if thats exactly correct??) quite well....  Its actually a wireless bridge, but they call it a gaming adapter....  I have two of them here...one to a PC and one to my Xbox360.

You set it up first on your PC....IP addy and such....Wireless encryption and cipher....

Once set up, you move it over to your device (XBox 360 in my case) and plug in the ethernet cable to the Xbox, and the unit's power cord...  I also chose to set up a manual IP address in my XBox...

They sell a newer version that comes with 4 ethernet ports instead of just one....but I only have the single port model.  I get 300 Mbps connections using my DIR-655 and the gaming adapters....

Here is the Newegg link...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833156258&Tpk=647ga     Single Port model

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833156307    4-Port version   Only $29 now...  I just ordered one for myself...

I got mine (single port) on sale for like $29....but that was a while ago....even at current price, its half the cost of the microsoft wireless N unit...

Good info Sammy. Which reminds me that a couple of guys on the DGL-4500 forum are talking about it. Maybe you two can review there posts and make contact there too. Any information is good.

I have the TEW-647 as well  I used it for my PS3 before I wired it and it worked great.

It was really easy to set up and I didn't run into any issues.  Great bridge for the price and small at that.

Wow I have the EXACT same setup and I also can't get the Xbox to connect in 'N' mode. At best, I can only get the Xbox to connect at 'G' but that's only if I have the DIR-655 router set to G&N mode.

I'm currently using Firmware Version :     2.00NA , Wed, 12, May, 2010

Somebody please PLEASE help!

I really don't want to have to buy something else as a solution to this problem.

Thanks for the space.

Airbrat,

Do you get any other devices to connect
At N speeds ?

Have you followed the 300 Mbps Stickie ?

Are there any specific settings for theXbox wireless
to achieve N speeds ?

What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? WEP, WPA or WPA2? Preferred is WPA Personal. Auto TPIK and AES.

The xbox should see both G and N modes if your router is set up on mixed mode.
What xbox do you have, 1st generation or slim? Seen some reports that wireless adapters for both don't work as designed.
