Is a switch the right thing to have?

Ok, I have a slightly odd setup, if you could call it that.

I have 3 computers connected through cat5e to my 615, then I have an xbox 360, and my bell PVR connected to a switch(DGS-1005d), thats connected to port 4 of the 615.

I bought this switch to replace a router that was previously doing it's job.

So basic question, is a switch the right thing to have for this purpose or should I be using the router instead?
