This be might be by design. I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask about this feature and if there is any other configurations needed to make PF work well.

Hi, i had the same problem.
To reach my router from dyndns i put port forwarding external 8080 and internal 80

Then on maintenance , service, i have cheked http on WAN and LAN.

Yes.
I try also VNC on port 5900 and it worked.

Firmware Version: 2640B_WT_1.1.0b5_20100409

Thank you, will keep this in the archives for any future needs.

1. Go to Maintenance->Access Controls->Services; under Remote Access Control section, enable HTTP service, BUT change the port to what ever temp number such as 7777.
2. Go back to Advanced->IP Forwarding; and now you can add HTTP Server with port 80. Click save/apply button to save it.
3. Now go back to Maintenance page. the Remote Access Control Http service port auto change to 8080.

Some additional info, also may not work even if you properly configure port forwarding and firewall:
  • your ISP can block this port (protect/spam/paid service)
  • your external ip is private (not only you use this Internet IP address). Your IP and external Router IP should be the same.
