Have you set up IP reservations for ALL PCs on the router?
Also is the routers LOCAL LAN name set to WESTWOOD as well?

why do you have so many discovered devices that "can not be placed" at the bottom, or are they just turned off?

Heres what I find on my system:

These 3 systems are Windows 7 x64 and there are 2 switches connected. ALL PCs have a set custom work group name.
Router is using v1.05

have not done so yet. Will do that later when the network isn't being used as much. Should I also follow you're previous posts for turning off gigabit and IPV6 protocols?

Are you talking about under setup/network settings you have boxes for Router IP address, subnet mask, device name, Local Domain Name? I should set this to "WESTWOOD"?

Yes lets try both configurations and see.
Might disable the IPv6 protocol with in the networking on each PC as well.

thanks for keeping tabs.

unfortunately no improvements in the situation. all above suggestions have not made a difference. I just finished reinstalling windows on one of the machines and even with a fresh OS, I cannot see most of the computers on the network. I've done DHCP reservation for this new computer and along with the older ones and nothing has changed. Currently the only two machines that are visible from almost everyone are the two windows10 machines "Crystal" and "Workstation03". "Central-Pc" is the anomaly and see's everyone day in and day out. It is a windows7 machine and I don't know what magic it has but it's been flawless on the network being able to see everyone else.

This has been nothing but frustrating. I had to re-install drivers for industrial CNC machines which require access to files on computers over the  network. It was nearly impossible to do so with the router acting the way it is. I was only able to get it done by rebooting the router numerous times and saving shortcuts to the folders when they are visible on the network, which then disappear over time. This is not good for CNC cutting machines that a running jobs that require consistent access to files to run.

Can I RMA or request a replacement for this router??I really had high hopes for it.

Any status on this?  ???

What Windows 10 version are you running?
How is the profile set up with in 10? Stadnard, Private? All Networking? Admin?
How do you have your Windows networking configured? Home or Work?
Check in the Networking and Sharing Center...

I booted to my Windows 10 drive last nite. I have Pro which is what I got when I selected the upgrade option in Windows 7 which was Ultimate at the time.
I looked at the settings in 10 and saw Private however I did have network discovery selected. I could see my other two Windows 7 PCs and my NAS listed in Networking.
However I need to install my 826L and retest again. The router I currently have on is a DIR-880L. I'll try and recheck this evening with the 826L.

windows10 home edition 64bit

not sure what you mean. Account profile? Its set up as local account administrator.

How do you have your Windows networking configured? Home or Work?
Check in the Networking and Sharing Center...
windows10 did not give me that option. Its configured as a 'private network' under network and sharing in windows10. Not sure how to change that as its not giving me a clickable option. It does allow me to join a home group which none of the computer are on

These are for Windows 7...

I rebooted the router this past thursday (turned it off and on again) after 20second count. All the computers were able to see one another under network view right away. After a 3day weekend, the network looks constant. All computers are still able to see one another after a full work day. Seems like turning the router off and on fixes the problem so does that mean there's something going on with the router?

were you able to do the below investigation? I don't see how changing setting on one or more windows machines would affect other machine views over the network. Turning the router on and off seems to make the biggest change in terms of improving network visibility.

So after doing a power cycled of the router the PCs can see each other and can access shared resources?

I have not had a chance to test the 826L yet. I'll test again if you need me to.

I'm wondering if something on your network may have been causing a conflict in IP addressing maybe or hanging up the router. This may cause some networking issues. I have seen this before if devices are in some form of conflict they wont appear correctly.

See how it goes this week and let us know by this weekend if anything happens.

Hi
Unfortunately no. Up to last Wednesday the network started to degenerate again. A power failure in the building shut down everything for an hour.
when the power came back up, the network was fine but by the end of the day, computers started to disappear again.
As of monday, power cycling the router did nothing to improve the network visibility. most computers are not showing currently aside from the computer named CENTRAL which is a windows 7 machine and has been rock solid (Can see every computer on the network always; I don't know what magic is in it).

Now I'm noticing that network refresh rates for files are really slow as has happened in the [past when this router was at its worst. . BMP files that are accessible over network folder from a window 7 machine are taking very long to update and even eventually  not having their previews updated

see here: http://s44.photobucket.com/user/westwoodmemorials01/media/Troubleshooting/computer%20issues/network%20unable%20to%20refresh_zpsqfxnj1pl.jpg.html

here the usual degraded network view.

http://s44.photobucket.com/user/westwoodmemorials01/media/Troubleshooting/computer%20issues/wireless%20printer%20disappears_zpscxhugfw4.jpg.html

is their anything else I can try? How do i  put the router on a schedule to power cycle every nite? would this help? Is this an indication the router is failing? This problem is affecting our ability to point industrial machines to shared files/folders over the network since it cant view the network folders.

This still working?  ???

I presume that you mentioned that the router was working before the introduction of Windows 10?

Can you draw us a diagram of how your network HW is all connected? Please include any switches and what maybe connected to them as well.
ISP Modem>Router>Any network switches>connected devices to switch.
                             >LAN connected devices to router.
If you power cycled the router and the problem didn't go away, I presume that power cycling the router on a scheduled basis may not work and honestly, most routers should not need to be power cycled if all is configured and set up well.

Are all devices set up for a Reserved IP address with in the routers DHCP IP address pool currently? We can try some static IPs out side the pool.

power cycling sometimes doesn't work. Seems like its touch and go.

How do you try static IP's outside of the pool?
Does this router seem defective? I have a two year warranty, I think I would like to get another but I don't know if the problem would occur again. I also do not know how the place I bought it would test this and duplicate these errors. At it's core, the router seems to be working. WIFI is solid. Only thing is longstanding computers do not show up under network places over time. I'm not sure they can replicate this error. Also, network transfers and database queries have been very slow for the longest time now. Sometimes with power cycling things go very fast initially, but it seems to degrade the longer the router is in operation. I'm not sure how to benchmark network transfer speeds, file searches etc.
