Feature requests:
on web interface and app - add firmware version so we can see which version we are on.
The version is displayed on the main page when you connected locally to the router...

are there plans to expand at least the web interface to allow true "manage from anywhere" ability?  Things like firmware updates, backup, reload config, manage QoS, manage dns, manage vpn, etc. As it stands right now, all either app does is give you a warm fuzzy that you can see if it working and reboot it if you want to. There is a whole lot more to management than that.
Not sure. Probably not due to the complexity of all these features and security concerns.

Fix the save file option to allow you to enter the file name OR add a dateblock to the file name.
Not sure if this will be added since it just saves the a file and leaves it up to the user to change the name of it later on. Might be a problem if it was to be added back in that a user might over write a previous back up file. So saving a new file is the simplest way they handle this feature.

Syslog - it would be nice to do three things: a)  modify filename; b) select target location AND directory; c) a test to verify that it can write and read from that location. This would be handled by the syslog server app, not at the router level. The syslog feature has always been to point to the IP address where the syslog PC capture is being captured.

let's see - USA, firmware 1.06 something (can't see it from here), hardware A, comcast wireed provider.

There will be a full on release forth coming with release note information there. Security patched is meant to quickly close the security issues seen. It may include or not include other stuff that was already in the works and in development which are not included in the release notes. So closing the the security problems is most important and you may get additional items which are not stated and maybe upon the next full non-security FW update. Other FW updates will have information pertaining to what was fixed for those updates. Thats how these are handled.

Feature Request:

Release notes: make them REAL release notes - what was fixed/touched in the release and what are known open issues. Doing that would help all of us a lot for two reasons: a) we know what to expect, and b) we know what is already a known issue and not only do we know you know about it, we can do our best to avoid that until it's addressed in a later release.

Release notes are to inform us what is different - not just "hey, we fixed a security issue".

The version is displayed on the main page when you connected locally to the router...

The version displayed is 1.06 but the actually installed version is 1.06.B04
standard way to show software versions is xx.yy.zzz where xx is major release, yy is minor release, and zzz is patch release. The patch release is usually short on documentation because they address one or two urgent issues (ergo "patch") Major and minor releases should be documented as to what was addressed and what are open issues. 1.0 was the major release and minor releases 02, 03 and skipped to 06 - all had various flavors of patches as well. While technically 1.06.B04 was a patch release, what is missing is the documentation for what changed in 06 which was a minor release.  The docs for the patch release would be a simple short note in the release notes for 1.06. What is missing is the notes for 1.06 so we know what changed or was added/fixes.
why is this so hard?

Interesting the new "add" client icon does NOT show up in FF 41.0 - but does in IE and Chrome.
on win 8.1.
until it's fixed guess I'll be using several browsers. Not sure who's issue it is, but folks need to be aware.

Can you provide a screen capture of what you see in FF and IE to compare?

As for version display, D-Link has always just displayed the Vx.xx information, and not any build information. Usually the date will be displayed with the version under the FW update section. Of course having Build info sometimes helps specially when there can be a few builds with in the major version. I personally would like to see better versioning with FW builds for better consistency.  ::) Seen a lot of odd ball things in FW files.  :-\

I upgraded to the newest FW (1.06B04) Posted on 5/14/15. Was hoping it corrected the issues I was having with reserved IP Tables. It does not. Here are the issues the router is still having:

1. After a certain amount of reserved IP's you can no longer edit the rule under connected clients. I am able to create rules for 17 devices, after that info will not save. Most routers you can have a table of at least 64 devices.

2. There is no way to delete devices that you have saved a reserved IP for if they will no longer connect to the router. So basically if my iPad breaks, I can't go in and remove the reserved IP address that I saved for it.

3. The GUI is timing out way to earlier. It will go back to the login screen while I am still working on stuff and moving around the GUI. It should not log out if there is active movement.

The biggest issue that needs to be fixed is the DHCP Table/Reserved IP.

I believe this was fixed as it was just posted in the release notes:
http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DIR-890L%2fR

For devices that have had a reservation and no longer connected to the router, there will be an icon for the device, shaded gray instead of blue which means that there is a reservation however the device is not connected. When connected, the icon will be blue.

D-Link was able to add up to 24 reservations in there testing. 24 is max for most D-Link routers.

If you need to reserve IPs for devices, we recommend setting static IP addresses for low priority or devices that don't need any router management. Devices like, sensors, cameras, printers, controllers and NAS don't need much router management and don't need a reserved IP address, rather use static IP addresses ON the devices itself. This will help free up more reservation room for devices that really do need it. >DHCP

Ok. 24 is max, makes no sense when most other routers have 64. But oh well. At least make it so I can name the device in the connected devices screen by MAC address. After so many it won't save any details I enter.

You can add a reservation by MAC address by selecting the (+) icon to add a device, the icon is blank so you can copy and paste in a MAC address if you like.

Ya, D-Link has always been 24 devices for reservations. Not sure why they haven't raised the ceiling. I agree, with home users getting more and more devices, getting to the limit on reservations seems easy now days. I'll ask about it and see.

I know you can add a reservation by MAC but clicking the +. However still stuck at 24, which I accept even if I don't agree with it. However, I am saying you should be able to at least save a device name even after using all 24. It does not have to have a static IP, but if you could at least save the name of the device, that way I wouldn't see a bunch of unknowns in my connected device list.

Have run into a device that is online and has a name of (unknown) and does not have a reserved ipaddr. When I go to edit it, I can edit it and the save icon becomes available. Save it and it does NOT change. I can go to any other active device and change that name easily. Have tried it with 3 different browsers and two o/s.

Looks to be a bug - can't edit if there is a parentheses in the name of the device.

Yeah, that time out is way too short - needs to be longer.
Stability of 5Ghz seems better, but still either one is going up and down - and I'm not moving around.

On that discussion of limit of 24 devices - that seems to be a combo of active and inactive - can't add more than that even with half the devices off line. That limit needs to at least be doubled.

Is anyone else finding that the app (android) and mydlink s/w only shows some of the device names but not all of them?  I'm luck to see half of my device names - only way to see them is connecting direct  to the device.

Haven't saved up to 24 yet...Looks like there could be an issue with editing and saving reservations. I've forwarded this on to D-Link for more review.

Please be patient.

Even after you have 24 saved?

What is the Mfr and model of this device?
Does the devices have a section or configuration to give a host name to the device?

What do you mean by the 5Ghz is going UP and Down? Please explain...
