The program will be restarted to apply a new setting
« on: November 27, 2012, 09:31:16 AM »

Tried to install D-ViewCam for the first time.  Windows 7 64 bit.  All it does is ask me for a password and then a pop-up says "The program will be restarted to apply a new setting".  Over and over again.  Tried to run as administrator, tried compatibility mode, tried re-installing.  Nothing works.  Any ideas?

Working perfectly over here, Win7 x64, the last DviewCam 3.3 default settings.
Maybe you've got 3rd party software installed which is messing with DViewCam? Try closing the other 3rd party programs you have in the background and run DviewCam again.
If it's the first time you are running DViewCam after a fresh installation then you haven't configured any cameras with the software yet right?

No third party software running (antivirus or firewall).  Very first time this software was installed on this PC.  I can't even get to the point where I could install a camera.

I had the Dviewcam version 3.3 on my Windows 8 and after restarting it and installed some Windows update i started getting the same message.... Here's what i did to fix it

1. Uninstall the Dview cam
2. Remove the Dview cam in the Registry of the computer (Call your computer manufacturer if you are not sure how to do it)
3. Restart the computer
4. Install the Dviewcam that came with my DCS-942L camera (I think it is just version 3.2)
5. Restart the computer
6. Open the Dview cam and it works fine after that

Im assuming you copied the D view cam file folder from another computer?  I tried that to, just so i could keep the current settings.  Unfortunately, it doesnt work like that.  You have to install the program from scratch on each and every computer you want to run it on.

There is a licerr.log file in the D-ViewCam folder.  In it, it logs "Trial Information Is Missing" every time I run the program.  The key must not be created correctly in 3.3.

Is there any patch or fix for this issue ? I also have Win7 64-bit, and tried version 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3, all did not properly work. When I installed 3.2, it actually disabled UAC and after reboot, the splash window started freezing all the time.

Same issue.
Windows Vista Business Edition.

Start D-ViewCam Main Console.
Log in to Admin.
A dialog appears Disconnect Camera 1.
Then the dreaded "The program will be restarted to apply a new setting"

...and so it goes...

The text in the view window suggests it is a "trial"

Did anyone resole this?

I read a little more in this Forum.
I uninstalled D-ViewCam.
Rebooted.
Installed the latest D-ViewCam from the D-Link site, AS ADMINISTRATOR.
Rebooted.
Now works fine. (although I'm running with UAC disabled, which I'm not too happy about).

Windows 7, 64bit system:
Connected all the cameras just fine.  Using MyDlink.com just fine. Even the iPhone app is working fine. Just can't use the D-Cam software.

I am also getting "The program will be restarted to apply a new setting." message...
Uninstalled, re-installed...read this forum, then
Uninstalled, rebooted...re-installed the latest version, 3.3...ran as Administer, to install, and to start the program...neither will resolve the message.

Can't get into the program at all...it just restarts, over & over... :(

Has there been any resolutions to the program just working, not having to jump through such loops to try to make it work?

All help & suggestions are greatly appreciated...thank you.

I only get this message if I try to run in a restricted account. It always works in an admin account.

This worked for me.

Go into D-link folder; C:/Programx86/Dlink/D-ViewCam

Right click on MainConsole and select Troubleshoot compatibility.
