Remote Access of Storage - Are there alternatives?
« on: November 06, 2012, 11:40:31 AM »

So I picked up a DIR-826L....Got it installed and everything is working fine. My question is....Is there a way to access the files remotely without using the sharepoint website? I would like to access this like I do my google cloud account or dropbox account. So far I'm uploading files one at a time and it is a pain in the you know where. I'm also using linux mint by the way.  ???

Is there a Storage option like on the DIR-857?

If so then I presume you should be able to access data. If not then you might have to use SP or use a remote control program or something that you can access data if you can map to the drive:

Hmm, not sure how Linux works for mapping. I presume maybe VOL maybe used. It's been a while since I've done anything in Linux. Maybe do a web search for drive mapping commands on the web?

I purchased the 826L router as well for file access that it touts.  Uploading files one at a time is a pain as well.  How the heck do you delete files you uploaded and better yet, how do you access the plugged in USB drive over the local area and wireless network?

Is there a Storage option under Setup? Also is there a Storage Device Link option here?

I was having the same issues and after researching a bit, I downloaded the Shareport Plus utility for the DIR-835 and it works perfectly with the 826l.
