Title: DCS-2339L with RG45
Post by: retiredCSPD on June 15, 2017, 12:49:16 PM
I've had my 2330 working great for about two months and want to hook it up with RG45 5e for better performance. Is there anything else I have to do other than just attaching the cable? Does the camera know to use the rg45 or do I have to do something in the the XP setup page or in the android app?
One other question I'm unable to open up an account with Dlink. It doesn't accept my information. I'm using Windows XP to sign up and to set up the basic stuff for the camera.
Any help is appreciated.

Marty

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What browser are you using with the mydllink.com site?

You should be able to connect up a LAN cable to the camera and it should get an IP address from the main host router. I would disconnect the camera from the wifi soon after or before connecting the LAN cable.

I haven't tested the 2330L specifically, but my 2230's switch over to network cable when plugged in, and switch back to WiFi previous settings with the ethernet is removed.

It should be fine and using network if properly networked.

Thanks to both of you for your responses. Hardware wise I was pretty sure the main board shouldn't have a problem seeing the 5e. I guess I was wondering more on the software app if I would have to do something for it to work right. I'm trying out D'link lite and Owlr. Both work flawlessly. I dug the trench today for the conduit with the cable inside. I'll install the RG45 connectors tomorrow and finish everything else.
Take care guys and God bless.

You can always test the camera out at your desk to make sure both LAN and wireless work before final placement.

Good Luck.

Well it's a little too late for that. The camera is roughly 175' from the router. 😊 Thanks for the thought though. Have a nice weekend and God bless.
