Title: MAC Filtering
Post by: controlmech on March 31, 2017, 08:30:25 PM
I want to set up my router to only allow connections from specific MAC addresses. I've drilled through the menus but I'm not seeing an obvious way to do this.

I believe the only controls are parental controls when you set up scheduling and go into each device under connected devices and select the gray pen and enabled parental controls for each device using this method.

This is from the D-Link web site describing the 879:
"Parental Controls - Create online access schedules and block/allow specific websites and/or devices."

I'm trying to block devices that aren't known. But the only way to do that apparently is to allow them to connect so that I can then block them? Doesn't make much sense from a security standpoint.

Well, blocking devices that aren't known doesn't make any sense either.  ::) I presume you'll need to know what devices are attempting connections then block them from that point on.
