Title: Can I block specific port(s)? I want to stop torrent ports
Post by: andyjwlee on February 23, 2016, 11:13:43 PM
Hi, I have been trying to find a page in admin setting to block ports, but haven't been successful.

The reason for blocking ports is to block unknown user to stop downloading files through torrent programs.

I did little research, and seems as tho if I block  port 6880 to port 6999, I can stop people from downloading via torrent programs.

If there are better ways to do it, please do share.

+ when I am successful at blocking ports, is there a way to allow certain device (my computer) to use the ports?

Thank you!

Thank you Furry for your link!

1. Model Name: DIR-880L Hardware Version: A1 Firmware Version: 1.03WW
2. I am in West Coast, Canada
3. I think I have cable....
4. Motorola . Model# SB5102

I had a look at the above link, and I was able to block ports. However, my problem hasn't been resolved.

What I did was, make a guest zone to really find out what is slowing down my internet.
Apparently, someone who is connected to guest zone is constantly (fluctuating) sending at 1000 kb/s .
My guess is this guy is using torrent or sort, and uploading files.

Is there anyway to set bandwidth on guest zone? I think my problem can be solved by limiting uploading speed of that person.

Thank you!

Sounds like you need to cut him off of the Guest Zone....port blocking doesn't work on Guest Zone...
