Title: Slow Internet speed when using the DIR-855L
Post by: Pandati on March 15, 2016, 06:45:24 PM
Hi,

I already tried to reach out to the support by email but I'm posting here in case someone solved this issue.

Since I bought my new DIR-855L, the wired/wireless Internet speed has been very slow. I have fiber (Coextro in Canada) and if I plug my laptop directly to the wall using a gigabit ethernet cable, I can reach 120mbps+; with the same ethernet cable and through the D-Link routeur I can't even reach 1, everything is very laggy. File transfers inside the local network are fast though, over ethernet and wireless.

I tried:
- Updating the firmware to the latest version
- Reverting to  Firmware Version: 1.01
- Reset with no customization
- A different electric wall plug
- A voodoo incatation next to it
- Validated that QoS is disabled
- Disabled Wifi to use only Ethernet

Nothing worked... Any ideas welcome :)

Thanks!

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Besure to log into the Admin account on the router.

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

And you swapped LAN cables between the PC and router and wall out let?

Only thing I can think of is that this unit maybe faulty. If your getting ISP spec speeds directly connected to the wall and not when the router is in line, something maybe bad on the router.

Hi, thank you again for your help. I brought back the 855L to Best Buy, got a refund and bought the 860L. Everything is working fine now, no idea of what was wrong with the 855L...

I presume the 855L may have been a faulty unit. Glad the 860L is working. Enjoy.  ;)
