Can't Load Shareport on Win 10 Machine

(1/1)

approachin40:
Hey, thought you might be able to help me out. I have a DIR-655 that I've had for several years. I've never been able to get the Share Port function to work at all. I didn't really care because I didn't really  need it and it's an excellent router even now. But now I'd like to get Share Port working so I can use my printer wirelessly (it's not wifi capable). I downloaded the most recent version of the utility fromdlink.com for the DIR655, but since the certification has expired Windows will not let it install no matter what I try. Just wondered if you had any ideas?

Thanks.

* What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
* Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
* What region are you located?
Whats the Mfr and model of the printer your trying to connect too?
What version of Windows are you using?

SP hasn't been updated in a while and not sure if it will work with any newer version of Windows. You can install an out dated version in Windows 10x64 if you reboot the PC and select F8 after the BIOS screen until you see a text screen with different boot options for Windows. Select the Disable Driver Signing Enforcement option if you see this. Then let it boot then try to install the SP software.

Does the printer have a LAN RJ45 port or just USB?
One suggestion would be to get a USB to LAN print server device and connect the printer to this device for ease of use.
