Port forwarding doesnt work for s*** since new firmware
« on: May 13, 2011, 11:43:42 AM »

I was very satisfied with my router until i for some reason thought I'd do a firmware update. I put in v 2.30 and since then, the router has just been awful. It completely ignores my portforward/DMZ/virtual server settings and it seems to also restrict my ports more than before, for instance modern warfare 2 tells me my NAT type is strict when it has been open every time before the firmware upgrade.

So i looked for new firmware again and found 2.34. Sadly the problems persist. How can i solve this? Can i revert my router back to 1.06? (which I've heard is the latest working one)

Where did you get 2.30 FW from?
What region is this router from?

If the router was working well for you initially, what was the reason for upgrading FW?
You could try to go back to v1.06 if that was the original version however it might not work.

2.30 and 2.34 was on d-links webpage, only for EU routers i think though (the router is bought in Sweden, it's a B1G).

I updated because i wanted to use the USB-port on the router to be able to connect storage (which didnt work on 1.06).

How can i go back to v1.06? If i try to upload the firmware file to the router it just rejects it. I assume it is because you cant install older firmware than the one already installed?

I was curious if you tried and you did. Reason for not being able to go back is they set a stop in the code so once you go past this point, you can't go back.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?

Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual?
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

Check out the DGL-4500 forum for gaming and gamefuel. The interface is different however you can use the data contained in QoS just the same and will work.

Let me know if I can help out more.

Sorry for late reply, I tried all you said with no result. However i just tried to put my router in DMZ from my modem and suddenly, the port forwarding worked perfectly! I guess the router wasn't the issue after all.
