Hello :)
MY DIR-820L Router is Blocking VPN. How Do I Fix? ???
I have just started to delve into the world of Internet Privacy, VPN and Proxies. I set up my VPN with OPEN VPN GUI and an account, and then tested it. With the router connected the attempt to log into VPN stalls. However I have plugged my pc directly into my modem and was able to connect my VPN. This tells me the Router is blocking VPN. First I wan to keep my regular internet connection and be able to turn VPN on and off.
I have been looking online and found some information, but nothing specific to the DIR-820L. I somebody could point me to a simple webpage that would be great. Or a step by step explanation would b great too. I'm not a techie or a hacker so please keep it simple. :)
Thanks, Prime. ;)

Just curious, did the router come with v1.05 or did you upgrade it recently?
-
I upgraded my router firmware a few days ago to Firmware 1.05
-
Did you start VPN configurations before or after loading FW?
Also did you happen to perform a factory reset before and after upgrading FW?

I upgraded Firmware to 1.05 First and then began to look into VPN configurations and installed OPENVPN.
I did not perform a factory reset before or after upgrading to Firmware 1.05.

Just future reference for upgrading FW:

Thanks for responding to my posts. I started to check other VPN free services and found a university based service and got this one to work. The problem had nothing to do with my DLink Router but was due to conflicting internet connections that were both trying to access the internet at same time, and thus blocking each other leading to internet hanging. Thought I should let you know. Thanks for all your help and your detailed responses, they helped me eliminate the router and figure out the problem.
