Setting up new DNS-323 - need basic walk thru
« on: December 03, 2007, 08:58:14 AM »

First, Im using vista prem 32 os.  I have two drives in the dns323, 320gb and 500gb. I downloaded the latest easysearch and it found the unit and assigned ip. However, when I select the ip, the config is still grayed out. And no drives listed. So I typed the ip address and got access to the units config menu.
From there I updated the firmware to the latest, and formatted the two drives. That all went well.
Now, I need a walk thru to get it showing as drive(s) in a network using vista.
Also, I notice in the easysearch, I have the two drives listed with "assign drive letter" to the right, but after selecting a drive, the "connect" and "disconnect" are still grayed out (non changeable or selectable).

Never mind.
Success by using network magic and a wired network line to the pc. I was originally using wireless.
Not sure which change made it go, but network magic made it easy to config things.
And the dsn323 drives then were connectable and assignable.
