Not happy.

There is no version for firmware B so I had to download version A

also... i tried both A/C versions.  In the configuration/tools/ SMB browse folder, and ftp crash when being accessed.

i had to downgrade to 1.09 for this to work else I could not start SMB and allow access from mac OSX.

Thanks for the feed back.

I recommend staying with v1.09 if it works for you. Again, this unit is EOL.

Good Luck.

Dear furry_,

I am contemplating updating the firmware to handle a Seagate 2TB HDD.

In your post of three years ago you say "Version: v1.10 -- Hardware: Compatible with A1, B1 and C1 versions".

My NAS P/N is BNS323a.....B1. I assume that means it is a B1 version.

Now, when I go to the legacy download site https://legacy.us.dlink.com, I see separate V1.10 firmware for "reva" and "revc". Which should I use for (what I assume to be) a rev-B?

I am not sure why there are no revision B resources on the Legacy site. I am pretty sure rev B was sold in the US. I will see what is available.

UPDATE:  The latest version I see in the global database for rev B1 is 1.07. Where did you get version 1.09?

Hmm versions 1.08 - 1.10 do state in the release notes that it is for revs a, b, and c which is strange since hardware revisions indicate significant chipset/hardware changes so firmware files normally are not compatible outside the revision family (ie A1, A2, etc).

D-Link Canada has version 1.10 for all version so I guess the vendor made it work across multiple revisions.

http://support.dlink.ca/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DNS-323

I added the rev B1 specific resources to the legacy site. If v1.10 from Canada works and I can add it to legacy.

Iguess go ahead app apply the FW update v1.10 for your Rev B.

I would use IE11. Opera or FireFox browser to do this.
Wired PC connected with main host router or or same switch as the DNS.

The "Canadian" 1.10 FW went in smoothly on my "B" unit. I haven't tested all functions, but it did successfully format Seagate ST2000DM008 2TB drives, and is readable from Win10 computers.

Thanks for your help!

HELLO, been a while i forgot i was even a member here!
I realise these are all old messages but i have an issue, i updated my firmware to 1.10 years ago now and its been working fine, im unsure on how to find out my revision number.
now all it does is house a 500gb and 300gb segate harddrives and back up data and use as a simple storage device for my work files. went to use it this week and its stopped working, now usually when this happens it drops its ip address for some reason and a simple turn it off and back on does the trick.
But this time it did not, i have windows 10 im wondering if a recent update killed access to it as its functioning fine and i can access the settings and see the hard drives just not access them.
if i click on network on my pc they dont exsist any more and the short cuts fail to work.
i managed via ftp to acces one of the partitioned drives with films on but nothing else.
i also got the message thst SMBv1 was not active so i went into power shell and run the following .
Get-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName smb1protocol
Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName smb1protocol
this re enabled SMBv1 computer rebooted and still no access.
Has anyone any ideas as to why all of a sudden would my access stop and if it is now so superseeded that they can stop me accessing it.
it works well for what i want it for and i dont have another 4-500 to spend on another new one.
Thanks in advance
Mike
