Hiya...
I'm on FIOS here. My wireless router connected to my FIOS box does not have enough signal to reach to the other side of the house. I have CAT5e all through my house, so I bought the DIR600 to extend the wireless range.
It kept intermentently dropping the signal, so I reset it completely and that didn't help.
I got on here and read the FAQ about configuring a 2nd wireless router, and set it up as an access point according to this FAQ: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40856.0
2 isssues...
One, once I change the IP address, I can no longer acess the router. I have tried with the cables in every position to no avail. I set up the SSID to match my existing router, before I made all the FAQ changes. Everything seems to work, but I just cant get back into the router without having to do a complete reset and starting everything all over!
After you changed the 600Ls IP address, did you try to access the management page using the NEW IP address? You have to use the NEW ip address to access the 600L.
Suggestions?
Two, there is a setting in the manual wireless set-up that allows you to turn the router into a wireless access point. Should I change this or leave it alone? If you need a screen shot, just let me know.
Please post a screen shot of this. If it does have an option to change from router to AP mode, I would give this a try and see how it works. If it works for you, I'll update the sticky to reflect this new feature in the 600L.
Thanks in advance for the help!
