Wireless drops out unless wired machine connected
« on: February 01, 2009, 10:10:01 AM »

Hi folks,

Hardware version: A3
Firmware Version: 1.11

I have looked through all of the forums and cannot find anything similar to this so if anyone can shed any light on it I would be most grateful.

A while back I stupidly tried to connect an old machine by wireless, completely forgetting the principles of 'if it works, don't... etc.', since then I have had an interesting problem where my laptop will initially connect, then disconnect, re-connect etc. every 30 secs to 2 mins. However once I switch on a machine that is directly connected to the router, the wireless connection becomes stable and will not disconnect at all.

Here is a portion of the log without the wired machine: -

Check if you have the latest driver for the wireless part on your PC and running the latest service packs (on XP) is step 1.

Hi,

Thanks for looking, I appear to have resolved this by changing the BSS drop down within the 'Advanced' tab of the adapter. Clicked 'OK' and it has been up ever since.
Actually reading that it sounds like I know what I am doing, when in fact it was a random stab in the dark, but hey who cares if it helps someone else.  ;D
