here's my wish list. I know it is already mentioned, but I would really love to have this on the iphone app

mydlink Lite (iPhone) - Add ability to adjust IR (On/Off/Auto) similar to the web interface
mydlink Lite (iPhone/iPad) - Additional zoom options (i.e. ability to zoom-in on a particular section of the screen)

-----
This is not yet on this thread:
-mydlink Lite (iPhone) - Add the ability remote reboot the DCS camera.  Sometimes the camera will loose wifi connection after a period of time.  So this is just a preempt.  I wish the schedule reboot is embedded within the DCS firmware.

-mydlink Lite (iPhone) - Choose which video profile 1, 2,3,4 to use.  The dlink server should not even transcoding the video. So maybe allowing us to choose the video profile (e.g. I will set profile 2 as low setting) then we can save some bandwidth.

2 requests if not available...
These are specific to cameras like the DCS-5222L, or the 7010L that have a digital I/O port.

(1) display the state of the digital input line in the info box when viewing a live feed.

(2) When the user configures the camera's digital output port to be manually switched, add a control button/switch in the app that allows the user to manually set the output state from his/her phone.  This appears to be an option when logged into the configuration web server, but does not exist in the app or on the mydlink site. (If its there and I just can't see it, please let me know!)

These would be very useful for those looking for some simplistic home automation - like switching on/off a light, interfacing with a garage door opener, etc, etc, etc...

Thx,
Kelly

1.  Support required for DSC-2332L (although app does work with this camera, but since firmware update to 1.01.03 camera view takes approx 1 minute to appear where as before update it was instant)
2.  The ability to move the DCS-5222L camera to preset positions
3.  Playback required for DCS-5222L

I can now see these features on v3.0 of mydlink lite on iphone 5
  -confirmed on 932L and 942L

mydlink Lite (iPhone) - Add ability to adjust IR (On/Off/Auto) similar to the web interface
Additional zoom options (i.e. ability to zoom-in on a particular section of the screen)  <--- via ePTZ
App does not properly fit iPhone 5 screen size

Then, here's my additional feature request for iOS
- (Security) Add passcode lock
- (Security) Add remember password (currently, there's no auto-logoff)
- (General) Ability to run in background maybe for 30seconds?  (for us to quickly check and send SMS or check missed call log)

from the info button the Dlink app for iphone appears to recieve MJPEG video from the camera. Why doesn't it stream H.264? Less bandwidth for video quality. I can recieve Youtube video at 30fps in H.264 across 3G, but I can't even get 0.5fps from my camera.

Also smooth panning would help as well. Right now tapping the iphone/ipad screen or clicking the webwheel is tiresome. Reading the box and the app description it states you can drag the camera around. Hopefully this is still to be implemented.

I noticed when toggling the motion detection to off on the Iphone App that it sets the snapshot trigger to Always and also disables the SD recording. I have two DCS-942l Cams and it does it on both. A fix for this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Added...

Yes, it's a Dcs 5020L. It is set to H.264 by default in firmware and on my iPad it streams H.264. On my iPhone it streams MJPG which is a lot slower.

not really sure how mydlink choose H.264

On my 942L, the 240p can be on H.264.
However, when I select 480p, it is always MJPG.  No matter how I tweak the settings admin page, the 480p will always show MJPG.

The 6010L always show H.264 even in either 240p or 480p. It might be due to firmware that locks the video profile3.

So maybe the correct feature request should be:
--Video - H.264 support for some H.264 enabled Cloud cameras

Anyway, here's another WISHLIST for mydlink lite
-- Ability to select JPEG with manual refresh button instead of 240/480.  (Reason, sometimes the mobile 3G connection is very very slow and the 240p is useless.
-- Support - DCS-6010L - Use either user defined video profile1 or 2.  The mydlink app is locked to video profile3 with H.264 512kpbs settings.

thanks

- Enable / disable motion detection on all cameras in the network with a single touch of a button.

- An alarm sounds that start on the phone when one or more camera detects motion. In order to be able to use the system as a safety system during sleep.

I have four D-link DCS-942L and use it on the iphone lite applikation.

Unlikely.

Set your motion detection to email your phone's email address which will end up as a text message to your phone.  Or enable a special email address on your phone to notify you of emails.  Enjoy the false alarms at 2am.

AAR, there are too many false alarms with motion detection... You are better off with an alarm system.

what about something along the line of a in phone based motion detection, similar to the dview app on windows, my wife and i use this often on our laptop when the baby is asleep upstairs we setup the camera on the baby with motion even triggering a beep from the computer, so that when the baby moves it will beep and we can check on her, this would be nice feature to have on phone/ipad so that we can just put that on and not have to have the laptop wasting power as well having to lug it around with us. just a simple even motion trigger, doesnt even need to be too advanced, however zones would be nice, i know i could setup in camera just to email me, but sometimes those emails are not very quick to arrive and for events such as watching the baby its nice to have right there.

  • Security - Add passcode lock
  • Security - Add "Remember Password" feature for iOS
  • Support - DCS-2332L- App takes approximately 1 minute to appear after firmware v1.01.03 update
  • Support - DCS-5222L - Option to move camera to preset positions[/color]
  • Support - DCS-5222L - Playback options
  • Option to disable events (i.e. motion detection, etc)
  • Ability to access and modify camera settings
  • Add control to manually set the digital output port state (available on the web UI)
  • Ability for the app to save multiple account settings (i.e. multiple username/password settings)
  • Ability to change camera resolution from the iPad (to accommodate slower/faster wireless connectivity
  • Ability to cycle through all cameras registered on mydlink at a user defined interval
  • Ability to remote reboot linked cameras
  • Ability to select video profile (i.e. 1, 2,3, or 4 )
  • Ability to temporarily disable notifications/emails remotely (with accessing camera web interface)
  • Add alert bade for motion detection on a user defined schedule
  • Additional zoom options (i.e. ability to zoom-in on a particular section of the screen)
  • Pan/Tilt - Smooth panning through dragging camera
  • Support Retina iPad display
  • Video - H.264 support for H.264 enabled Cloud cameras
  • When viewing a live feed (from DCS522L/7010L) display the state of the digital input line
  • [Bug] Disabling motion detection on the iPhone App sets the snapshoot trigger to "Always" and dissables SD Recording (observed with DCS-942L)

Wishlist Items Addressed by D-Link (Thank You!)

  • App does not properly fit iPhone 5 screen size [FIXED!]
  • Additional zoom options (i.e. ability to zoom-in on a particular section of the screen) [FIXED!]
  • Add ability to adjust Night Mode (On/Off/Auto) similar to the web interface [FIXED!]
  • mydlink Lite - Include audio playback capability [FIXED!]

"Option to disable events (i.e. motion detection, etc)" i believe i saw this option in the andriod app the last time i used it, ill have to double check whether it was the lite or the plus that i was using at the time.

Heres my list for the iphone
1. why is there no mydlink+ for iphone? it has high enough resolution that i would be totaly satisfied to have multiview, even if its only 2 cams at a time, the iphone 5+ should have more than enough power if i was doing it on my old EVO, Galaxy and assorted tablets.
2. Guest Access, sometimes my mother in law watches the baby, it would be nice to let her use her devices to watch the baby while she naps, instead of having to leave her our devices.
3. Selective guest access per camera: in addition to this above, i woudnt mind letting my mother in law or anyone else use our main login for mylink app but the problem is that i have cameras throughout the house and i would prefer that she doesnt have access to our main bedroom camera for example.
3. Timed Guest access: another addition to wish #2 would be the option of timed guest access, so that lets say i have a someone house sit or pet sit while we are away, i wouldnt mind them having access to our cameras for a limited amount of time, but once we get home i would like that access to expire or be revokable
4. Light notification on/off option: when i access the cameras through LAN, computer, or android the cameras LED flashes, when i access through ipod or iphone the LED doesnt flash, it would be nice to have control over this, to enable or even disable altogether the LED through the app, for example the front door i have the camera behind the window in the door, but the LED reflects back onto the camera, so being able to turn this off is helpfull.

This is a "wishlist" maintained by the end-user community and does not necessarily reflect functionality in upcoming releases. I can say that D-Link does visit this forum and views the wishlists for various products, so our contributions do ultimately have an impact on current and future products.

4. Timed Guest access: another addition to wish #2 would be the option of timed guest access, so that lets say i have a someone house sit or pet sit while we are away, i wouldnt mind them having access to our cameras for a limited amount of time, but once we get home i would like that access to expire or be revokable

Items 1-4 should be noted in the mydlink.com board, as the mydlink.com service drives the account management and creation.
Item 5 seems to be something that would need to be addressed at either the Cloud camera firmware level or mydlink.com service

I am unable to find the toggle to enable/disable motion detection in the mydlink Lite app for iPhone. This problem has been discussed here: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=53956.0

Under the mydlink Lite general settings, there is only one option (to mute the camera by default or not). Under the camera specific settings, there is also only one option (to rename the camera).

Camera: DCS-930L, firmware version 1.08
mydlink Lite version: 3.1.2 (2 Nov 2013)
Device: iPhone 5, running iOS 7.0.4

Thanks!

what about something along the line of a in phone based motion detection, similar to the dview app on windows, my wife and i use this often on our laptop when the baby is asleep upstairs we setup the camera on the baby with motion even triggering a beep from the computer, so that when the baby moves it will beep and we can check on her, this would be nice feature to have on phone/ipad so that we can just put that on and not have to have the laptop wasting power as well having to lug it around with us. just a simple even motion trigger, doesnt even need to be too advanced, however zones would be nice, i know i could setup in camera just to email me, but sometimes those emails are not very quick to arrive and for events such as watching the baby its nice to have right there.

Totally agree!! We have the same setting at home (little baby). The app displays a notification when the camera detects movement, but the phone does not beep. A sound alert (or ringtone setting) in combination with the alert should not be too difficult to implement. Without sound alert, we have to constantly watch the app, which is not very convenient if we sit in a nearby restaurant...

When using Passive Infrared as the trigger, it takes many steps over the actual HTTP interface to control it.
1. Add motion detection and PIR master toggle into the app interface.
2. Improve motion detection toggle accessibility, so that it can be toggled from the camera list.
3. Allow toggle for several/all cameras in the list with one selection. (Stored selection checkboxes?)

Notices:
There already is the motion detection master setting in the camera / settings. So the motion detection master toggle is already implemented. It could be easier to toggle, and it does not change PIR trigger mode. The motion detection toggle is also behind several steps, inside camera settings. The camera settings can not be reached in landscape mode. The selection should be quicker, hopefully in the camera list, as a button or checkbox with each camera.

If there is several cameras, then toggling them in groups would be great. The easiest this could be done in the camera list, with selection checkbox, and then extra button at the top or bottom to toggle them all. The selections could be remembered across the app executions, so you can toggle a certain set of cameras with quick selection.

Even better would be camera grouping, and adding group control for the multi-toggle, but that would need the group selection and storing user interface.

EDIT:
Looks like there are several detection methods in various camera models.
Perhaps all these could be combined under general "detection trigger toggle"?

Either the App could toggle them on/off, or the cameras themselves could allow this kind of centralized functionality. And of course those people who want to keep two different modes in various conditions could still use the UI. Or the toggle could be app-level combination selection of several toggles, depending on the camera type and user selections.

I am using the latest mydlink Lite App on my iPhone.

"Go to Preset positions" now supported. Nice! But should have gone one step further to support "Patrol"

Does not seem to support video playback for DCS-6010L (Fisheye) but no problem with video playback for my other cameras: DCS-5222L and DCS-942L. I have posted a query on this separately.

I think it is very useful to be able to set up groups of cameras such that the user can quickly enable/disable motion detection, for example, with one click for that group, while leaving the others as is.  For example, the user can have indoor cameras in one group, while outdoor cameras are in a different group, so that when the user arrives home, he/she can just disable motion detection for only the indoor cameras with one click.  Of course, the same camera can be a member of multiple groups as the user sees fit.

Hello,

Loving the products so far! A feature request that I believe would be useful:

1) Reviewing the videos in the app from the motion detection (when not on the same network) takes time to download each video depending on the connection.

I believe a useful function on the app would be to enable background downloading the videos\pictures that were created from an event. Options could include: Max space to use for storage, Delete videos\picture older than x days, Only download on wifi\both.

2) After viewing a video through the playback option after it has recorded on SD, it would be great to have an option to save the video so that you can then email\share etc...

Hope that helps!

Here's  my wish list! I did contact support for a few of these items, but the questions I had, were not supported by the current release. All of my requests are for local cameras.

Wishlist:
• Flip / invert swipe gesture controls (mainly when using the camera mounted upside down.)
• Save local ip camera to the local list, instead of having to wait and find the networked camera again.
• Local push notifications. Open internet connection to send notification, then close connection after sending. Or if possible send notification to local networked mobile devices.
• Locked mobile device still allows streaming of audio.

Hi, agree with the above post keen for the audio feature while locked. I have the DCS 825 and the mydlink baby android sofware doesn't really cut the mustard on my android 5 and doesn't work with my wife's marshmallow 6. So, mydlink lite to the rescue! Can you implement the following feature?

"As a Customer I want to be able to hear the audio from my camera playing when my phone is locked so that my battery life isn't drained with the screen on permanently on."

Cheers,
Chris

I use my dlink lite on android.
My wish list is very simple
Ability to change the sound for push notification,
currently it uses the default notification sound and it is hard identify without looking at the notification what triggered that notification.
We need a simple way to customize the notification sound just like other apps ( whatsapp, gmail etc)
Thank you for listening,
Appreciate if we could implement this feature.

  • Save local ip camera to the local list, instead of having to wait and find the networked camera again. We can set a static ip in order for this to work.

Please help us all out here with an update for this! I can't imagine how much time I waste waiting to find the camera again.

Hello, I would recommend the following options:

+ Connection type & strength
An icon in video and in app showing if camera is wired or wifi. Important that the wifi signal shows strength...this helps troubleshoot problems and to place cameras better. Similar to your wifi signal on phone or laptop, or like on Skype how it shows your connection quality

+ Bandwidth test camera and recommend video setting
Building on the above, if the video quality can be variable and optimized based on the bandwidth and connection speed. Also an option when setting up the camera to test which video setting is recommended and to be able to apply it
The video settings in the setup are not for your average user....I even tinkered between the different options, but this should be much easier and automated

+ Caching for app?
The app loading time for me (latest version on Samsung S6 latest android version 6) and has always been slow in previous versions of the app and the phone software and it is the same on the iPhone (latest model\firmware). From opening the app, to seeing what cameras it has to download from the account. I'm sure there are many settings or camera info that can be cached on the phone and then the app can background refresh if there is an update....it seems to load everything every time the app opens....too slow.

+ Leaner software
Sorry i can't be specific here, it's just the app as well as the software on the cameras are very clunky....it's a shame since the hardware specs are great
The app loads so slowly vs the motorola hubble app as well as the nest app....also, once you open their apps it automatically has a snapshot from the actual cameras....very nice! Please make your apps and software better because the cameras are good!

Thanks!

Thanks!

+1 on all points above

How are we coming along regarding adding the ability to create camera groups so that common attributes can be set simultaneously for multiple cameras?

With the latest UI workflow, it has become very cumbersome and time-consuming to enable/disable motion detection for multiple cameras.  Imagine having to go through this ridiculous sequence for each camera just to enable/disable motion detection:

(1) select the camera.
(2) wait a few seconds for the video feed to connect
(3) select the "..."
(4) select cam settings
(5) select motion detection
(6) click enable/disable
(7) click to go back a few times
(8) wait for video feed to connect again
(9) click to go back to camera list.
(10) repeat all above steps for each camera

A simple check box beside each camera in the main list screen would've been acceptable.  But being able to control camera groups is probably more elegant and flexible for handling multiple common attributes.

my wishlist for Mydlink Lite  iOS or andriod

1. Have guest mode,  mydlink lite is basically for admin, it shows camera password on browser
2. On Mydlink / settings - put a master switch - "enable remove button".  I find the remove camera to be too risky as you might accidentally remove it
3. Add - Reboot Camera option similar to Reboot Router
4. Add - In addition to motion/sound detection, add more settings that we can configure. e.g. FTP settings, scheduled reboot timer, ftp test,
5. Add more status details, e.g. wifi details, ip address used, mac address, up time

While I'm sure I could add a long wishlist, as the MyDLink Lite app is rather outdated and could use some TLC, I have two primary issues that I'd like to see addressed:

For context, I have a Nexus 6P running Android 7.1.1

1) My phone has a fairly high resolution screen, which the MyDLink Lite app apparently mistakes for a tablet.  I forces me into landscape mode and won't allow me to rotate my screen at all (see linked screenshot).  Please adjust this to account for modern large screen high resolution phones so that the app is usable.  My phone's screen is not nearly tablet size, and it makes it pretty hard to use the app.

2) The notification style of the app is incongrous with the rest of Android.  It hasn't really been updated to keep pace with the last couple versions of the OS, and looks to have been manually styled rather than relying on the OS's built-in styling (see linked screenshots).  They're a different size, don't show the time in the same place, and don't show the app name.  On the lockscreen, there's an ugly white band behind them, and this white band conflicts with the Ambient Display feature.  In addition, the notifications don't group like every other app, and the MyDLink Lite app doesn't allow any control of the sound of the notification.

Overall, please update the app to be compatible with newer phones running the latest version of the OS.

Here's my wish list for myDlink Lite App.

a) Allow add camera and to manually put IP or DDNS name to connect to camera.

For some unknown reason, the mydlink lite app still do relay mode and need to reconnect every 5 minutes.
I have enabled router upnp and did all port forwarding.  I can access home camera from external location

Would love the delete button to work on all play back pages. Thank you
