Title: DNS-323 Cant Map Drive after Windows 10 Pro update 1/16/2018
Post by: jtma67 on January 28, 2018, 10:49:10 PM
After Windows 10 performed an update, I couldn't map my DNS-323 NAS drive.  Bottom line, here is what I found.  The Windows 10 update apparently reset one of the security settings required.  The following security check box MUST be CHECKED.

Go to: Control Panel / Programs and Features / Turn Windows features on or off

Insure the box is CHECKED for   SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support.  This older drive needs this box CHECKED.

I hope this helps out with your older legacy product NAS product.

Thank you for this information. Hope this helps future Windows 10 users.

this is temporarily useful but any chance to release a firmware that makes the DNS-323 SMBv2 compatible?

Microsoft deprecated SMBv1 in 2014

No chance unfortunately for a new firmware since the DNS-323 was discontinued 5 years ago.

The suggestion would also not be temporary. Once enabled on Windows, it's enabled until you disable it. Or if maybe a windows update changes it.  ::)

Looks like MS is caving in and finally fixing Windows 10 and SMBv1:
