Reboots randomly/ firmware issue?
« on: September 16, 2015, 11:37:28 PM »

Hi Everyone!

i'd like to apologize beforehand if this is a repetitive topic or has been answered before.

My DIR-855 randomly reboots itself. i'm not very good at this but i have tried the following solution :
- Disable QoS Engine
- move to WLAN to a less crowded channel

i  noticed that there is a firmware update that will fix this rebooting issue. My firmware currently is on 1.12WW but the automatic update says it's the latest. Thus i'm trying to find the latest 1.23WW firmware but had no luck in getting it. So i'm hopeful that someone will be kind enough to help me in fixing this?

Thanks =)

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Has a Factory Reset been performed?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

If your out side of the NA (North America) region, you can get v1.24 WEU here which will work for regions out side of the NA region:

Hi Mod! Thanks for being so friendly. :D :D

After spending amount of time on this forum, i was able to retrieve 1.24WW beta1 firmware from D-Link RU's FTP.
i'm currently monitoring the changes after this firmware upgrade.

I got my DIR-855 in Singapore and currently using it in Indonesia, so WW region it is, i guess?
My ISP Modem is a Huawei HG845A running on GPON

Ok let us know how the upgrade goes.

Does your ISP service have NAT on it's device?
  • If the ISP modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: Link>Double NAT and How NAT Works. Call the ISP and ask to see if the ISP modem can be bridged. To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged. If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ. Also check the routers DHCP IP address maybe conflicting with the ISP modems IP address of 192.168.0.1. Check to see if this is the same on the ISP modem, and if modem can't be bridged, change the DIR router to 192.168.1.1 or .0.254.
Example of a D-Link router configured for PPPoE with ISP Modem bridged: PPPoE Configuration on a Router

Yes the connection is on DHCP instead of bridging it directly, i'll look into switching it soon.

After the upgrade, the router still reboots itself randomly.
Then i look into the Advanced DNS Service feature and disabled it since my ISP uses DNS Hijacking.
So far there hasn't been any reboot.

Thank for the help! ;D ;D

Sounds like you might have found it.
Check on Bridging the ISP modem if possible.

Enjoy.  ;)
