Okay so I recently bought this router DGL-4100 to swap out with my old linksys. While installing I ran into a few problems.
First was I wasn't sure if I needed to clone my mac address. How would I know if I need to? 

Next was the host name. Is this host name something already existing on my computer/internet provider or is it just any made up name I want?

I tried setup with cloning and without and no host name and wasn't able to get connection. I later found out after having my internet all screwed up and unable to connect that you cannot setup threw safari because of some kind of bug with that browser. Is that correct?

If there are any mac users with this router could you please give me some setup tips. I finally got my internet back up with the linksys and want to make sure I'm doing it right before I attempt again.

First of all we need to know your ISP service, cable or DSL?
Do you know if the ISP modem has an internal router? If so, it's recommended that you bridge this modem so it will hand off a public IP address to the 4100 router so you can use it to do all the routing and operations.
If your ISP is a stand alone modem, most routers do not need additional MAC setup. Unless it's required by the ISP. I would call up your ISP and ask them if they need any additional router setup information. They will be able to walk you thru some setup if needed.

I use Safari with my 4500 router all the time. Even though DLink says it's not supported. It does work. You can also try a different browser to manage your router, i.e. FireFox, Opera, Flock. I use all three.
