Slow wifi issues
« on: November 18, 2015, 06:08:36 PM »

ISP: Cox Communications
Speed: 100mb down, 10mb up
FW Versio: 1.08
Location: Kansas

Wired it gets above speeds. Wireless is extremely inconsistent and I can't figure out why. I've tried resetting network to default and setting it all back up. Disconnected all devices and added each one and tested speeds, no change.

Location of router is in central location with no other electronic devices near it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jesse

What are the wireless speeds with a laptop directly next to the router? That will isolate if it's a configuration issue or a wireless interference issue.

I upgrade to the beta 1.09. Seemed to have fixed a few issues with speed.

The only problems are that my iOS devices (iPhone and iPads) are still averaging 35mb down and 5-7mb up. Much better than before but I am still somewhat baffled.

These speeds are recorded right next to the router.

Update on the issue, it seems to have reverted back to the speeds it was showing before the F/W update. Every now and then, it will get excellent speeds ,see my results in the speedtest thread, but that is extremely rare.

What iOS is loaded on the Apple devices?

Is SmartWiFi enabled or disabled after the update? Mines enabled.

iOS is 9.1
Smart Wifi is enabled

My Dell laptop is also having similar issues. It can get 114mb/10mb but most of the time it is nowhere near that.

Once again, wired connections are great!

Ok, can you disable SC and set Single mode N on 2.4Ghz and Mixed N and AC on 5Ghz radios.

You may see fluctuations in wireless testing. Specially with iOS 9.1 being so new.

Everything but iOS devices seem to be fine.

What a pain in the rear. Some googling has led to to some information that a lot of people are having iOS 9 wifi issues.

Bummer.

Sometimes it doesn't pay to update iOS. Seen this before in each new iOS rev from one to the next. I believe iOS 8.0 had issues too. I waited around till iOS 8.4. I'm still on it.  ::)

Have you tried resetting your network settings on the iOS devices?
