H.264 on mydlink lite?
« on: February 18, 2015, 04:49:19 PM »

I have looked over the internet and dlink forum. But still no clue how to enable H.264 on my 5020L through mydlink lite.
Tried to logged on to my camera and set the default codec to H.264, but on the mydlink lite app It still show MJPG, with crappy fps.

So how to enable H.264?

You can't. It does it's own thing when it wants, and that's usually mjpeg.

What do you mean you can't?
The cam specification shows it support H.264, the app description also shows it support H.264.
The main reason I bought this cam is because H.264. :(

The DCS-5020L does support H.264 and displays video via PC using this video encoding format. The mydlink Lite application has this constraint, not the camera.

That said, I can verify that improvements related to video resolution in the mydlink mobile apps are in development, no details or ETA as of yet... stay patient. I don't know if these changes will specifically impact H.264 support, but good things are coming.

Is MJPEG the default of mydlink+ for all my cameras (6010L, 5222LB1, 2136L and 942L) with 5Mbps DSL connection. There was a time that I was luckily able to stream H.264 for 480p and above for all cameras but it immediately reverted back to MJPEG and never again. All 240p are H.264 by default. Any factors to consider such a fps, nitrate, profile ID setting order, etc.?
