Here's my login problem (I believe Sanssan is having the same problem):

In Windows Explorer address bar enter:  \\192.168.1.104\Volume_1\Share_Folder
a popup login window opens with following
Login:  \\DLINK\Guest  (this part is greyed out, and cannot be changed)
Password: blank (but whatever password I put in, it will not logon)

This has nothing to do with web browser... does DLINK assume default logon to be Guest?

Are you able to map the volume using the Easy Search Utility? What anti-virus software are you running?

Isn't this more the behavior of windows if you have turned on "Simple file sharing" in XP or turned off "password protected sharing" in Vista or Win7 ?

Yeap. Problem and topic are same. But problem is not solved . I also use Win XP Pro and I still have this problem.

XP-Pro should have no problem saving the name/password of the NAS, I've done that for years with XP.  XP-Home is trickier to manage, it's not really designed to allow a lot of control of networking.

All my machines that access the DNS-323 and DNS-321 boxes here have different name/password than the NAS units, and I never get prompted for a password after storing them the first time.

Having the same password as the NAS is an issue - as the NAS doesn't support any decent characters.  Short of using 123456, you can't have a decent password.  It's rubbish, to put it mildly!

Funny, I have an alpha-numeric password for mine, so you can do a reasonably secure password.  Obviously, 123456 is NOT such a password.

I would guess that 58xp02dn8zqw would be a lot better.

Sure but I have a password I use for a particular purpose which contains @.

Not allowing such characters on the NAS is pretty lame, in my opinion.
