Title: Remote back up to offsite DNS-343?
Post by: cjunemann on June 01, 2011, 02:06:56 PM
Hello all. This is also my intro thread...

I have one 343 here at the office and I would like to set up another offsite and have it backed up over night, say 3am?

What steps would I need to take? Would the offsite 343 require a static ip?

There are 2 ways to do it. You can either use a pc running an FXP client like FlashFXP and be a mediator for the two units using FTP (in which case you could use dynamic DNS on the offsite one) or you can use the remote backup feature built in which utilizes RSYNC. Unfortunately both of these would need to be executed manually each day (or possibly using a task manager on your PC to run your fxp client) to run on a schedule. There is no schedule built into the DNS-343 for remote backup.
