After changing from default router from my isp to dir-878 i notice that it keep disconnecting from voip apps.. in discord it would work like normal but suddenly at random times it would like silently mute/disconnected.. what is i mean by silently is because if the internet dc discord would have indicate/notify that i have disconnect from discord but the problem is, it look like everything is fine and the only way to find out that i have dc'ed is by listen if i hear anyone talking.. if no one is talking then it is 100% that i have dc'ed. i have to reconnect back to resolve the issues.. and i am pretty sure the router is the cause of this problem because with the old router i did not have any problem like this.. the problem same goes to teamspeak.. same problem

^ this the example when it have dc'ed at this point i could not receive any packet aka voice from my friend.. you could not tell that i have dc'ed but the fact that i have to reconnect to hear my friend talking again is proving that i actually have dc'ed

after some research some say it because of qos.. meanwhile some say it because of double nat.. the thing is can double nat occur when i only use 1 router? i only have a modem and dir-878 directly connected to it..

Is your ONT running in router mode or bridged? I believe it has a built in router already:
https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/access-network/echolife-hg8240w-pid-8471292

  • If the ISP modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: Link>Double NAT and How NAT Works. Call the ISP and ask to see if the ISP modem can be bridged. To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged. If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.
