« on: December 31, 2008, 07:24:20 AM »

Hey, i just upgraded to fw 1.06. i did a factory reset through the online interface and then proceded to put my settings back in. when i got to entering the time in keeps saving the the server is unavailable. i'm in Eastern time (-5:00) and i tried both of the dlink time servers as well as time.windows.com, which by the way works on my pc without any issue.

any suggestions?

Make sure the DNS servers are setup correctly on your DNS-323 as well as a gateway.

I suspect changes to address time related problems have introduce a problem. I have been using 'time.chu.nrc.ca' and 'time.nrc.ca' (which worked) without issues in f/w 1.05.

In f/w 1.06 however, an error message indicating that the NTP server (time.chu.nrc.ca or time.nrc.ca) could not be contacted is displayed.  I've factory reset the DNS-323 and tried it again ... same problem.

I did an ipconfig /all on my laptop and everything on the DNS323 matches.

IP Address :     192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask :  255.255.255.0
Gateway :       192.168.1.1
DNS1 :            24.226.1.93
DNS2 :            24.226.10.193

I'm getting the same thing using ntp1.dlink.com (which it was set to and able to use before the upgrade to 1.06 from 1.05).  "Unable to contact this NTP server" when I select "Save settings".  Changed server to ntp1.dlink.com.tw - same result.  Changed back to ntp1.dlink.com - same result.

This is interesting!  I had trouble with the 'time.nrc.ca' server however changing ntp to ntp1.dlink.com worked!

Yes.. use  "time.windows.com" for the time server name

It will then work

I was able to get mine working with ntp1.dlink.com by entering my DNS servers IP on the LAN page (both DNS boxes were blank for me.)  I got the DNS servers IP using IPCONFIG /ALL at a command window.

Now ntp1.dlink.com and time.windows.com both work.

Same here ...

I suspect that in resolving other time related issues, and as far as I'm concerned something was broken as as the error did not occur using f/w 1.05

Ha.. another thing that's broken. Yep my NTP doesn't work either. The D-Link coders must be bogged down by multiple projects or are asleep at their desks. I'm tired of dealing with so many issues with this device. Features should work as advertised.

So i was talking to a coworker and telling him that ntp was no longer working. he suggested that i use my routers IP address as my DNS instead of my ISP's DNS's which windows uses... what do you know it worked.
so....

if your having the same issue try your routers ip for the DNS address.

Thank you for this! I have been vexed by this very problem so long that I gave up trying to fix it. Today I came across this old post and reset the DNS to my router, enabled Daylight time and USA and now everything works for the time!
