Already invested in some other technology.

Turn off TV is easy.  This is also unlikely to turn on a TV or fan that is computer type controlled.  You will have to use the remote or power button to wake from sleep state.

I'm still very curious to see where D-Link is going with this technology. Depending on the direction D-Link takes this, I see a great deal of potential and some interesting possibilities especially if this product is supported by mydlink.
