why "bridge mode" is removed since v1.04

I don't know why D-link remove the "bridge" mode in v1.05 and going forward... anyone know why?
I really need this feature to plug it to my Zywall 5 router.

Is there any workaround? I want my 655 becomes an Access Point.

Disable DHCP on the 655 and connect LAN to LAN from your Zywall to the DIR.

so simple?

I need to manually set LAN IP, gateway, DNS point to Zywall's address?

my wireless client can pass through DIR and get DHCP address from Zywall?

When you disable the DHCP server on the DIR, and connect LAN to LAN to the Zywall the DIR is now a Wireless Draft N switch. Each device connected to it, wired or wireless, will pull all DHCP information from your Zywall.

Sounds like it the functionality wasn't removed. Just the check box where you enable it then eh? Silly D-Link.

Hi hkfriends
I have the DIR-655 acting as an AP, connected to a ZyXel 5, and it does work.
In the Dlink manual look at page 12-13, where they specifiacally tell you what to do in order to setup the DIR-655 as an AP.
Also, if you go here http://www.dslreports.com/faq/11233, there is a detailed instructions  on the setup.
I hope that hepls ( or anyone else who wants to use any router as an AP)
Cheers  :)

The feature was removed in the 1.05 firmware due to complications in the firmware. The stability of the unit as a router was compromised by this feature and it was rectified.

Yes, I use the 1.10 and follow the step below can using AP mode now
Disable DHCP on the 655 and connect LAN to LAN from your Zywall to the DIR.

btw, another issue is:  the DIR is unable to send e-mail log alert - due to no WAN connected

Hi hk
You are right, no email because it has no WAN connected. That is true for ALL routers that are used as an AP.
Also no correct time, or time update for the same reason .... no WAN connected.
IMHO those shortcomings are tolerable.
My setup works very well, (no disconnections) with two exceptions.
- I am not able to restrict Wireless ONLY MAC. It will restrict MAC address on both wired AND Wireless, not wireless only. So I leave that in the "off" position.
- I would like to get wider coverage, but that means changing the antenna(s) and Dlink does not make them for the DIR-655. Maybe I am expecting too much with the coverage, as my former AP did not give me the coverage that the DIR-655 does give at the moment  :)
Cheers  :)  :)

yeah, MAC filtering for wireless is also my concern.  >:(
