when i set the Management Link in my DAP-1620 to dlinkap.local (or abc.local) it redirects me to dlinkap48ee.local.
Hardware Version: A2
Firmware: v1.05

What mode are you setting the DAP in? Extended or AP mode?
Can you access the DAP using it's assigned IP address?
-
extended.
yes. i can access it but it redirects. it is like the dlinkap48ee.local is hardcoded.
-
It's possible.
I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. The US offers Chat support for consumer products at support.dlink.com. 24/7. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

i contacted them via chat. they told me to factory reset. hence why i am here.
-
I'll pass this to D-Link support for review.
-
Correct. 48ee is the last 4 characters of the MAC address. It is still connecting to your unit.
-
Yes, it is still connecting.
The issue is that it does not make sense to have a changeable management link when the system is just going to append a suffix to it.
At least update the document ion to say that this is the case.
-
One possible reason could be is that more than one DAP could be implemented on same network. So the default URL would need to be change thus the DAP adds the last 4 characters of the MAC address on to the back end.
-
I think that makes sense. I would suggest adding that to the documentation or on the Management Link screen.
-
;)

I will suggest to the documentation team to add this info. I think most people do not notice it but it is not uncommon to redirect to the correct interface.
