Title: Host Name Invalid When Reserving an IP Address
Post by: castle_bravo on April 26, 2011, 08:26:08 PM
Issue: When I attempt to save the changes I made to the DHCP reservation list I get an error window that reads:

http:\\201.201.201.201 (my internal router IP address - changed from 192.168.0.1)
Host name Invalid

I have a DHCP Range setup as 201.201.201.100 to 201.201.201.199

I'm attempting to reserve an IP address of 201.201.201.199 for one of the computers on my network.

I can see the computer on the dir825 router and am connecting to it through a linksys wrtgs working as a repeater bridge running dd-wrt.  The computer in question is successfully getting it's IP address from the dhcp server on the dlink router.

The dir825 is running 2.05na firmware.

Why am I unable to reserve an IP address?

How about testing with the default IP address of 192 first and see if you get a reservation.

Thanks for the response -

I had specified a device name for the router that I think was causing the issue.  Once I removed the device name I've been able to add reservations.  Is it having the device name populated at all or was the fact that I was using under-scores in the device name causing the issues I wonder?

Possible...I usually just use one word naming conventions for that.
