Title: [Solved] DGS-1210-10/ME unstable
Post by: LukoJy on September 23, 2020, 12:31:47 AM
Hey everyone!

I encountered very interesting issue. I setup my 8port DGS 1210 D-link Switch with two IP addresses, five different VLANS, SNMP and LLDP. There is only 4 ports active, 1st port trunked with other managed switch and 2-4th ports are computers in the same VLAN. The problem is that randomly (sometimes every hour, sometimes every five minutes) the switch becomes unresponsive, ping doesn't work, web GUI is inaccessible, SSH gets disconnected, SNMP monitoring stops, however the connected devices feel no impact of this.

Every single idea is highly appreciated!

EDIT: Also can't upgrade firmware. Current 6.13.B010 rev A1

IF you factory reset the switch and don't set up any VLAN configurations, does the switch continue to work or does the problem still appear?
What version of FW is currently loaded?

Thanks for taking time to reply!

If I factory reset the switch, the unresponsiveness becomes less common, yet it still persists. Current firmware version is 6.13.B010 rev A1, however it cannot be upgraded, because all upgrades I found is for revision B boards...

Talked to one guy working with Dlink switches, even he mentioned DGS switches are workhorses, their processors are slow. That means they start killing processes with lower priority such as ping, http or snmp. So that might be the problem, yet I am searching for confirmation on this.  :)

I would make contact with D-Link support about this. I see that Rev A files are not available. So maybe time to remove the Rev A and replace with a Rev B or something else.

I managed to solve this issue in the the strangest way...

Tried to do factory reset - nothing, tried to do port by port diagnostics - nothing, searched every possible D-link ftp server (EU, US) for firmware version that would work, yet with no success...

But as I told you earlier my device has A1 revision board, whose firmware was nowhere to be found and then it hit me: maybe different D-link domains have different region ftp servers with different firmware. Anyway after doing some search I found necessary firmware in Russian D-link ftp server here: http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Switch/DGS-1210-10_ME/Firmware/ (http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Switch/DGS-1210-10_ME/Firmware/)

After smooth upgrade via console everything got fixed: Monitoring works great, web access is very responsive, no ping loss or ssh disconnections!  ;D

Glad you found FW that works.
Enjoy.  ;)
