I have an A4 DIR-655 with the 1.32 firmware.

I am noticing, after about a day of uptime, that there are many entries
in the  Internet Sessions page with a local address that is the router's
wan ip for connection attempts to internet ip 165.193.49.40:443.
I noticed this because the router appears very slow once these entries
are in the log.  Once the router is rebooted thing speed up and, of course,
the sessions are gone.
This ip appears to be related to Securespot.  I have securespot disabled.
Apart from setting passwords and my own internal ip the settings are
mostly default.
This occurs with both 1.32 b01 and b03.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening??

Thanks  /D

Nothing at that address about securespot.  Have you made sure that your system is clean of all spyware/malware/virii ?  Just wondering.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  I have just run an av scan and nothing came up.

Checking 165.193.49.40 with ARIN whois reports that address range
165.193.49.0/25 is owned by Bsecure.  Are these not the folk that
provide securespot?

When I go to URL:  http://securespot.dlink.com

I am redirected to:

https://securespot.bsecure.com/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fDefault.aspx

Using an address in the 165.193.49.0/25 range.

I get this aswell whenever I restart my router. For about 10mins all internet use redirects to bsecure, even when securespot is disabled. This is even more of a problem as bsecure is not reachable as I canout start by DSL connection as my modem configuration page is redirected to bsecure! There must be a way to fix it, or is it possible to have a securespot free firmware post 1.3?

This is serious problem. Today it took me 2 h to fix it. All clients where redirected to dir-655.bsecure (something like that). My trial period expired. I use proxy so this smart firmware were forwarding my server mac as client (router mac + wrong client mac). So i was unable to save settings from dlink site with cancel service. I was trying to turn off/on/off securespot in router , but it doesn't matter, every time when my router renew ip address (even if this same) it redirect me to bsecure.

I have to admit, it is secure, no connection to anywhere else than bsecure, that is
improvement of security. Good work Dlink coders. :(

What else in fw.1.4v let me guess.
10% more settings and features, but you need to turn off at least 90% of services to keep it working.

New features like :
-charging mobile from usb port
-you can connect mouse, keyboard and usb sound card to usb port
-advanced dns v2. now our DNSes are more secure, they will redirect you to our site every 50 DNS request
-anti p2p features maximum limit of simultaneously connection are limited to 10, as active sessions.
-log now can inform you about our collection of bugs every day, so you do not need to search on forums, if there is something wrong with new release
-router may freeze or reboot in random time, instead of bugs in firmware
-router can keep statistics information after reset, to activate this option you need to make printscreen before reboot
-router tools system check. now you can see if router is turn on
-guest zone now you can see who is guest , and who not.
-firewall can be set to allow connection on specific ports to clients, but we forget to made interface to this settings
-web based game , try to guess if your session to web interface expired
-web site filter improvements - now you can be sure that if you have entry like this '*' you block all pages which you want
-your router can support more than 200 clients, but MAC address list only 24, solution now on router web site you may see list of allowed MAC addresses so, you want to connect ,just change your MAC
-WAN speed is limited to 70% of your real speed , so something, we still do not know why we did it, but is crucial for your security, we are sure.
-information about new firmware is now connected to your log/email. all what you have to do are :save your log in notepad and add this entry, or send to your e-mail with this log
-AP, to improve power/range of your wifi you can buy adapter and connect as much antennas(cable included) as you want.We recommend at least 50 per room. You can setup  if you want to cook your brain between 2-5Ghz microwaves.Power mode with step 1% per antenna not included.
-WiFi automatic channels selection work perfect, you may be sure that it is correct for you, no more reason to scan environment and place your channels with 2 channels difference. Now our ALG do it for you, it use 10-1, every time
-connection to website 165.193.49.40 is by default blocked
-if you use proxy server, and you want to have it in stealth mode , all what you need to do is, inform about it your clients

are now proudly included.

I'm having trouble too. I can't get anywhere! How do I fix it. When I try to open a new window or tab I get for example. https://secure.passport.mnginteractive.com/mngi/servletDispatch/ErightsPassportServlet.dyn?url=http://www.contracostatimes.com/california/ci_12932308?nclick_check=1&forced=true

I have had hours worth of trouble with damn securespot. I reccomend staying away from the free trial!
I'm all locked up!

I have the same problem but may have a solution.  Be aware that I have 'reset' the router using the reset button on the back of the modem.  I am currently on 1.32NA dated 2009/07/09.  I'm not sure this is consistent yet, but enable Securespot and save the settings, then disable Securespot and save the settings.

I think this worked for me twice now.

I have been losing my connection with this router about once a week to the point I can't even access the router login page.  I have to go down in the basement and unplug the router and plug it back in, then I'm OK for about a week.  I was hoping 1.32 might improve that.  Alas, it didn't.  30 days later, Securespot takes over.

Let me know if this works for anyone.  Good luck!

is there a way to revert to 120 or 121?  force it? all other brands of routers let you do this in one way or another.

I bought this router to get away from Verizon's POS Actiontec only to land on a router that locks up once a week. It's a shame sveasoft or dd-wrt do not make a firmware for this router.  looks like I'm going to have to beg Verizon for one of those new dual core Westell 9100 I hear they finally fixed the 130,000 concurrent connection issues

has anybody tried tftp with this router to force a downgrade???

somebody let me know  rtcy2008@gmail.com

thanks

I am seeing this too.  My "internet connections" shows 3 connections from the router's public IP address to 165.193.49.40

Has anyone found out 1) Why the connection occurs and 2) How to remove it?

I am not using secure hotspot nor any other bsecure feature that I know of.

Cheers,
Tim

Is D-Link going to offer a non-SecureSpot firmware just like during the v1.2x?

The SecureSpot simply creates problem for those who don't need it. In fact, it hits performance when surfing web even when it's set to disabled.

FYI, the connection has disappeared from my router.  I will monitor it but perhaps a router reboot was required after changing the securespot setting.

Sadly, I've joined this club of users who experience massive down-time.  We had a thunderstorm the other night, and the router rebooted.  I have since had to toggle SecureSpot on-save-off-save several times to keep http (at least on port 80) working.  SSL sites (port 443) have *not* been impacted by the issue.

At this point, all I can do is beg D-Link to fix this arch / design flaw or code defect ASAP so I can use the router I purchased to get work done.  It's not that great to receive a phone call at work from my wife who cannot pay the bills, et al, because all requests are getting routed to a busted page at some random bsecure.com address.  It takes a lot of time, energy, patience, and pain to walk her through the steps of logging in to the router, doing the CAPCHA dance, navigating the menus, enabling frickin' SecureSpot, saving settings, disabling SecureSpot, and re-saving settings.  This is a horrible work-around IMHO.

Please fix this.  Customer satisfaction has dropped on this end, and I am beginning to miss my Netgear router.  Wow, I never thought I'd say that!!

A heads up to people who may be subscribed to this thread but not checking the beta forums:  there is a beta release (1.34b02beta) which corrects the behaviour of the enable/disable SecureSpot checkbox.
