Pc GameFuel help please
« on: August 06, 2011, 09:25:07 AM »

Hey guys, so I recently purchased this router and it's been working great. I've tried referring to the stickied guides on gamefuel setup, but they seem to be catered towards console gaming, and as I'm strictly a pc gamer I'd like to setup my gamefuel properly. I'm not very savvy with networking so please bare with me. I have gameuel turned on, but whenever a roomate of mine torrents/streams Netflix I begin to suffer from the fact that he seems to be getting all the bandwidth, so I'd like to prioritize my pc over all others to prevent this issue. At first I thought I simply needed to turn on gamefuel and that it would automatically detect me gaming, and would therefore give me priority, however this does not seem to be the case, and I think I need to add rules or something.... This is where I have no clue what I'm doing. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Also I've read on hear about issues with fw 1.21 but I haven't had any issues with it (it came preinstalled from newegg with 1.21) should I bother upgrading to 1.23 or no?

You can use the gamefule rules for PC gaming as well. You might need to get specific port numbers for your games that you use as there can be many different ones. You can put your roommates PC in the gamefuel rule as well as shown in the stickys and give a higher number value for the priority, like 200 and give your gaming PC a lower number value like 1 to ensure that the router keeps giving you the bandwidth needed while the roomate streams video.

If your router is working well on v1.21 then keep it. No need to upgrade unless you experience random router hangs or wireless restarts.
