Title: Unable to upgrade firmware to try fixing a problem
Post by: tesfeld on March 21, 2014, 08:57:01 AM
I have HW V.A2.  Firm 1.15. I currently have 16 virtual server rules defined.  When I try adding a new one, via a wired connection, the device reboots.  If I try deleting one, it reboots.  I have tried upgrading to 1.20, 1.21 1.23 and all of them tell me that they uploaded and to wait 69 seconds for the process to complete, but when the router comes back up, it's still on 1.15.  Help!

Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48135.0)

I remember the 4500 has a limited number of options and is based on a sharing of a memory pool, so you maybe running into this limit on rules.

I recommend when doing any FW updates or downgrades, please follow this:
 FW Update Process (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0)

Any status on this?

Interesting that my old post says I was running 1.23NA.  Is there any way that my router keeps reverting to 1.15?  I'm following your upgrade post as we speak.  You're a ton of help Furry!

I was able to go back and forth with my A2 when I had it online. Last version I believe I have on mine is 1.23...

Let us know how it goes...If your using IE, add the routers IP address to the compatibility list. It's old FW and with new browsers, you might see issues with FW thats not being dev'd anymore.  :'(

Blanked it, upgraded it, jacked with Fios support to re-obtain an IP address and now everything is good.  I just have to reload my virtual servers.  I'll report back when I see if it will let me do as many as I'm needing.  Thanks again Furry!
