DNS-320 Firmware
« on: April 28, 2011, 04:54:24 PM »

Hi all,

Yesterday I received a DNS-320 in the post and promptly started playing with it. Now I have a beginners question.

After doing some reading of these boards I thought the first thing I should do is update the Firmware on my unit (current Firmware version is 1.00). However, whenever I go to the downloads page on the Australian (my home country) DNS-320 website, there aren't any Firmware updates available...

I've seen people mentioning Firmware 2.0 and when I navigated to the American downloads page I saw that 2.0 is available.

Why is 2.0 not available in Australia? Can I just download the American version?

Thanks.

Hello,

I would like propose some changes in 2.00 firmware:
1. In DNS-320 management I can schedule the shutdowns for every week/day etc. The problem is that wake up sheduling doesn`t exist - NAS must be switched on manually. Can you sent it request to person resposible for new firmware for DNS-320 in DLink?
2. I observed some kind of bug in this model (in 3 seperate DNS-320): when the P2P application is disabled, cooler works very quite. It is OK. But the problem is when the P2P is enabled BUT with scheduling - for example I set that P2P should be inactive from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am and then during this time coller is still to noisy. Teroetically the state shuld be the same as disabled P2P.
3. Is it possible to add new applications - WWW server or/and mail server?
4. NTP server bug - I cannot disable NTP server after first running (there is no enable/disable checkbox. Is it possible to correct it in new firmware?

Where can I send the new requests/new bugs about Dlink firmware? Do you have some contact to Dlink Specialist?

Regards,

Rafal

I would like to have a wake up option too, but seems that it won't be (hardware) possible, as it seems it would need a power line internally...
This means that it could be mooded (saw in another forum) for a How-to, that i wouldn't advice :(

The bugs in 2. and 4. are known, at 4. is already fixed in the newest beta, 2. seems to persist.
