2.4ghz & 5ghz
« on: December 28, 2011, 03:48:14 PM »

I just bought the DIR-825 and configured it the way it said but it only displays the first SSID name @ 2.4ghz on my HDTV that I want to configure for 5ghz. Any ideas? I downloaded the latest firmware in case there were any bugs from previous setup issues.

I see what you are saying but it seems to me that it should display both 2.4 & 5.0 SSIDs on my network settings on my HDTV. I have a Vizio 47" 3D TV.

Only if the TV supports 5Ghz, if it doesn't then it would show up on the TV list of available wireless. Do you have other devices that support 5Ghz radio? If not then you can just turn the 5Ghz radio off as there is no need for it's use until you have a device that does support 5Ghz.

You'll need to consult your TVs mfr about 5Ghz support. Most devices only support 2.4Ghz.

Try single mode G or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz?
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.
Turn off Short GI and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

Away from the HDTV, still would not both of the SSIDs show up on my computer as having 2 available networks?

I think I understand that no matter what I'm using if it doesn't have the 5ghz technology then it will not show up. I started to setup a guest link and it showed up.

yep, if the devices you have don't have 5Ghz support then they wont show nor will they connect. Need to use 2.4Ghz. Possible that maybe a 5Ghz wireless adapter could work if you really needed it.
