Title: mydlink.com - Wishlist
Post by: JavaLawyer on August 31, 2011, 10:30:03 AM
What do you think of the recent upgrade to the mydlink.com site?
Is there functionality you would like to see on future site updates?

I will love an option to see my video stream in full screen. I know the resolution is low, but it will be easier to keep an eye on my monitor from a distance. :)

I would like to see the date & time data in the mydlink view, so I know that the system is working.

I would dearly like to NOT receive the message "Max. Number of Views Reached. Please Try Again Later. (027F062500)" as it gets in the way of my testing the setup of the DCS-932L received today, as well as continued troubleshooting of the DCS-930L that I already had.

Include CameraName in the mydlink Info display !!!
To clarify - I refer to the "full screen" (landscape) display.

Have the mydlink app keep traffic local when I am connected to my home network.  Seems stupid and a waste of bandwidth to have it stream to mydlink and then back to my house when the traffic could just stay local.  The only reason I see it needing to stream to mydlink is when I am accessing remotely.  I use this as a baby monitor and at 2MB a second I am going to hit my 250GB ISP cap pretty quickly.  App update/firmware, not sure, maybe both.

Add ability to change mail and motion detection settings in mydlink lite.

You can already change email and motion detection through mydlink, Settings Tab > Advanced Settings, which will open the camera settings for modification.

Could you please add to the wishlist:

- For iPhone mydlink Lite app - Add the ability to adjust IR, on, off, auto like on the web browser.
- For mydlink.com site on a mobile web browser - Add the ability to adjust camera settings, including IR, on, off, auto, brightness, etc.

Add a "motion dectect NOW"-button or -functionality (e.g. when you suddenly have to leave the house). . . I'm thinking of an of/off switch in the dlink iPad-app, or a small app on a PC.

Wow two of my wish-list features I wanted have already been identified- I wonder if me posting here will give them more emphasis!
1. IR on/off/auto toggle switch in the iPad and iPhone app
2. Manually reorder camera list
3. More zoom options (e.g. zoom in on particular section of the screen)
4. An easy on/off toggle switch for the camera either in the web portal or in the iPhone app to disable the camera when not needed

Great idea with the thread. Hope the developers/programmers see this!

Can I please add that I'm happy if the features above make it into the plus app first and trickle down later. Totally understand the developers need to be able too justify the marginal time cost vs revenue, and given the pricing of the + app is not unreasonable at $1 (ie less than a can of coke or a chocolate bar!) I think maybe it's time too add more features to it too justify why people should pay extra for it.

Wish list ideas
- make use of Retina iPad display
- ability to change resolution of the camera settings from the iPad app too suit connection eg if I am overseas and have access too a slow wireless connection then a high quality feed won't help
- ability to temporarily disable notifications or emails remotely (such as when you forget too disable it and don have access to full settings interface but are being bombarded with emails)
- status LED control (sometimes you want to draw attention to the fact you are watching!)

If the above were to only be in the + app along with other wish list ideas above,  please ensure it is both iPhone and iPad compatible (current + app is only available on iPad).

I know I may be dreaming here to ask for this given its in the more expensive 942L model but would it be possible too get some kind of OSD as well with a time and date stamp on the live feed when viewed on the iOS app? This is a sure way of knowing whether or not there are new images loaded, adds detail to the screenshots, etc. doesn't have to be super fancy but happy with date and time, or if feeling really generous, camera name and or custom message as well.

I'll add this to the mydlink wishlist (where the mobile device apps are addressed...)

(1) Not sure if this is included under "mydlink Lite (iPhone/iPad) - Ability to change camera resolution from the iPad (to accommodate slower/faster wireless connectivity", but the iPhone and iPad apps really need to support camera resolutions better than 320x176.  There's no excuse for that.  Should support up to 720p, including 480p.

(2) Also, 720p in the web browser shouldn't lag 10-12 seconds like it does.

(3) Firefox and Safari should be fully supported.  Currently, not all functionality is available (like, you can't set motion detection zones).

(4) iPhone app shouldn't crash when you pick the camera until iOS 6 on the iPhone 5.  And it should fit the iPhone 5 screen size.

The ability to easily download the contents of the sd card to the computer hard drive, eg "save all" function.

My camera is on continuous record with 1 minute video recordings and is in a difficult spot to remove the sd card everytime I want to copy the footage to my pc.

Maybe we can have a function in the "Playback" tab where when you select the day, there is also a function to also save/download that days footage from sd to pc.

The functionality you're asking for seems better suited to camera firmware rather than the mydlink service for remote camera access.  :-\

Nice work.

I use mydlink with NAS DNL-320 and would like to have some user limitation and different mydlink login levels.

As is, there is one login and that user have unlimited access.
It would be nice to have minimum two different: Administrator and user.

Administrator: Unlimited access and no limits regarding folder/file handling.
User: Possible limitation of folders. Can copy, play and watch, but cannot delete, rename, etc.

Almost like a normal shared drive.

This case its working trought DNR-202L and Mydlink

Its possible to add a cams management option when accessing from internet and outside network?

When you go NVR INFO TAB (mydlink site) ADVANCE SETTINGS then SETUP TAB then AUDIO AND VIDEO then you go to camera list and click go to device (any of the cams) it can not get in cam setup because are outside network.

This case is when you work with a camera attached torught DNR-202L

I noted that you cant have the camera and the DNR registered at mydlink account at the same time (much more if the myslink account are differents). You have to delete the camera from your account and just leave the NVR registered.

Its possible to have the cameras registered on mydlink independently to have access directly to the cameras and have the nvr registered at the same time? I wanna see the cameras and the nvr listed and possibly accessed from mydlink.

I would like to have bigger steps to camera control. Large steps are pretty small at the moment, if you want to move camera example 90 degrees. Sure there is autopan function to see everything, but larger steps would be nice and propably easy to add to software.

It would be great if mydlink were incorporated into the pro series of D-Link cameras.  Maybe start with the DCS-6113 :)

You need to get the "L" seriers cameras for mydlink support. Only "DNS/DCS/DIR-###L" series products support this feature.

Would strongly like the 'show password' removed. Consider this a huge security violation.

How about the ability to permanently dismiss the notification when you load the Android app that states "To connect to your local camers, you should turn on your phones Wi-Fi setting." That pop up is super annoying. Just a check box or something so I never have to see it again.

This wishlist refers to the mydlink website, not the mobile apps. Please see the mydlink Lite or mydlink+ wishlists to add this item.

From other software that I have used in the past, a couple of things that would be nice to see would be:

The ability to change the exposure or fstop of the camera. Sometimes the background might be bright but what you want to see is in the foreground which is not as bright so the camera sets the exposure based on the background making the foreground too dark to see anything. An override for this would be nice.

The ability to have the camera return to the home position automatically after a certain amount of inactive time has passed.

These are 2 features I found helpful is other cam software.

Old thread, hopefully it's still hot. I'd like to see real-time SMS notification for motion/sound detection instead of email. I've received email notifications 2 - 3 hours after the occurrence. Pretty useless if some miscreant was on the property then but long gone by the time I'm aware of it.
