Title: Wifi Dropouts
Post by: winchesterstoke on January 11, 2015, 03:43:02 AM
Hi, I've been struggling for a while with streaming video from my two NAS's (DNS320 and DNS320L) over wifi - I get buffering and sometimes the videos just drop out.

Following some testing over the weekend - where I used cable rather wifi - and the problems seemed to go away. Looking at inssider at my wifi signal:

Does that look to be a reasonable wifi signal - or is there a problem with the dropouts that can be causing the problems playing video?

Thanks!

Are you on 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz when streaming?
Are the NAS LAN wired?
What device are you using when connected WiFi when streaming?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
Checking or additional NAT or WiFi on ISP modem is all...

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.
